I don't think we're holding back, I'm giving my all on the set as I've been brought up to do. But it's true that this is very much a lead-in to the seventh installment, it's setting up the final events, and that's why it might be a harder film to come to grips with. So that's why there are moments where we can be freer, we can have more jokes and a bit more fun with it. You don't always have to think about an immediate danger. Voldemort's not the main source of fear or evil; that's another character.

The decision to cut the seventh and final movie into two installments may have been prompted by financial considerations, but Radcliffe says that it was essential in order to honor the original story:

I'm very happy that the seventh book is being made as two films because I was worried they would have to cut important scenes.... The problem with doing that with the final book is that there is nothing that doesn't relate to the main story or drive it forward. There's not much you could cut. So we've given ourselves the room and opportunity to do it justice.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince also stars Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Michael Gambon as Albus Dumbledore.

The under-performance of the relaunch film, Superman Returns, has led many to question whether the Man of Steel will return for a sequel. The 2006 film by director Bryan Singer cost an estimated $270 million to produce, but only took in $200 million at the domestic box office. International ticket sales of $191 million helped the film make a profit, but it was a major disappointment to the studio, especially in the wake of the $1 billion that The Dark Knight earned worldwide.

In addition to the poor box-office numbers, Returns has been criticized by fans for having a plodding plot, borrowing too heavily from the 1978 Richard Donner-directed Superman, and for straying too far from the mythology established in the comic books. Actor Brandon Routh, who played the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent in Returns recently echoed those complaints by admitting that Returns suffered from a lack of action. Routh said that his Superman contract has expired, but that he is definitely interested in revisiting the role.

I didn't want to go [to university], it's as simple as that. I think most people go to establish their identity and what they want to do career-wise. I know what I want to do, more or less. Other people go to meet people from different backgrounds and that happens naturally on a film set. That's not to say I'm going to stop learning. I read a lot. I still have English lessons once a week, without the pressure of exams or essays. I have my own teacher and we basically chat about books and poems. In an ideal world that should be the way everyone learns. I don't fancy university in truth. I know exactly what I want to do — touch wood anyway.

There are still three Harry Potter movies yet to come. Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, originally scheduled to be released November '08, debuts July 15th, while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I comes out in November 2010 with Part II following in July 2011. David Yates, who directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, directs the remaining three films.

The latest movie from director Quentin Tarantino, Inglourious Basterds, hasn't even hit theaters yet and there's already talk of a sequel – or a prequel – on its way. Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Co. and longtime producer of Tarantino's films, said that Tarantino has enough Basterds backstory for a whole series of movies:

We could do two movies, three movies. I was begging for the movies, but Quentin wanted to do the TV series, Bob wanted to do the TV series, so it was like two against one, you know?

And then Quentin turns it into one movie. Go figure.

When asked if superstar actor Brad Pitt would be interested in reprising the role of Lt. Aldo Raine, Weinstein said:

Brad wants to do Inglourious II. We all want to do it. And the movie hasn't even come out yet!

Inglourious Basterds also stars Mike Myers, Diane Kruger, B.J. Novak, Julie Dreyfus and Eli Roth.

Originally released in 1979 as a stand-up arcade game, the entire goal of Asteroids is to safely maneuver your tiny triangular spacecraft through an asteroid field while shooting the asteroids to reduce them in size and ultimately destroy them all. Unlike many modern video game properties that have a built-in storyline, there's no Asteroids story per se, so Universal has the freedom to craft a story from scratch and hope that name recognition will drive fans to the theater to watch it.

Lorenzo di Bonaventure, producer of the upcoming action film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, will also produce Asteroids, with Universal Senior VP of Production Jeff Kirschenbaum overseeing production. Matthew Lopez (Race to Witch Mountain) is writing the script.

Even though David Yates, the newest director to bring the Harry Potter mythos to life, took the franchise on a dark journey in the previous installment, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the tone is much lighter in the next movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Apparently, the new tone did not necessarily sit well with all of the cast members. In a recent interview, Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the titular character, said:

My favourite stuff is always the dark stuff. When I read scripts for the first time that's what I always lean towards and it's what I want to see included – even more so in Harry Potter movies, because we need the films to appeal to adult audiences. In fact one of the things I was disappointed about with the sixth Harry Potter movie was that there wasn't so much of that element.

Radcliffe said that he had a conversation with Yates about this and was told that it was important to give the audience some comedy. Radcliffe said:

There are huge opportunities for comedy in the sixth film and we use all of them, even though my natural inclination is not towards that. I love watching comedy but doing it is something else.

Yates will also be on board as director on the follow-up to Half-Blood, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which will be split into two movies.

Vanessa Hudgens isn't famous for playing action roles but that's about to change in her next project, Zack Snyder's all-female action movie Sucker Punch. The director told MTV that even he was nervous about bringing in the High School Musical star.

I wasn't sure at first – [the casting people] were like "Oh, Vanessa's coming" and I was "Oh, okay – that sounds cool" but I didn't know what to think. Then I saw the tape and I literally went "Wow, she's good." She's really good.

While Hudgens' role is not the main part (that role went to Emily Browning when Amanda Seyfried was forced to drop out), Snyder sees the smaller role as a plus for Hudgens:

She has a big part, but she's not the center of the movie. It'll allow her to stretch herself and do whatever she wants, and not be too exposed by the movie – but also, on the other hand, do things that people have never seen her do.

What "things" will audiences get to see Hudgens do?

You're going to see her shooting machine guns, fighting, beating the s**t out of people. It's funny – we sat her down for her physical evaluation, and she was really athletic. She's a dancer, so all the [fight] choreography is gonna be fun for her.

The fight choreography is being handled by Damon Caro, who worked on The Bourne Supremacy, and Snyder says the fights have "that [Bourne] vibe." Snyder promises the movie will be "hardcore," even if the rating won't. Snyder insists a PG-13 rating is possible:

If you can make Taken PG-13, you can make this movie PG-13. That's what I believe. Because it's more fantastic. No one really dies in the movie.

Production on Sucker Punch starts soon, with an opening date of March 25, 2011.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Forbes announced Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston as the biggest female moneymakers in Hollywood this past year. Many people are, of course, already taking note of the Brad Pitt connection. From June 2008 to June 2009 Jolie pulled in $27 million, while Aniston earned $25 million.

Jolie's big paycheck comes courtesy of Wanted, which grossed $341 million worldwide, and an advance for her role as a CIA agent in Phillip Noyce's upcoming Salt. Aniston's money comes from box-office winner Marley & Me, as well as her role in SmartWater commercials. She also received an advance for The Baster, where she will star alongside Juliette Lewis, Jason Bateman, and Jeff Goldblum.

Completing the top 10 are Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Drew Barrymore, and Renée Zellweger.

THR also noted that the $183 million earned by the Top 10 women falls well short of the $393 million taken in by the Top 10 men. Harrison Ford topped that list with $65 million.

The viral campaign for Funny People started with a fictional TV show starring Jason Schwartzman's character called Yo, Teach. Next was a website for Adam Sandler's comedian character George Simmons, including clips from his "movies." The latest entry is another fictional website, this time for Aziz Ansari's character the "superstar comic" Randy Soudha, who is a mix of Dane Cook's antics and Eddie Murphy's material.

The website includes a bio, an interactive soundbyte mixing board, and videos of Ansari – sorry, Raaaandy – performing standup (Warning: the clips are funny, but not work-friendly).

This sounds a little bit like a rumor, but sources are reporting that Jessica Biel is in negotiations to play Thor's love interest in the upcoming movie adaptation of the Thor comics.

The character was not directly named, but is supposedly a character from the animated movie Hulk vs. Thor, which means it would be either Sif, a fellow Asgardian and love interest from the comic books, or The Enchantress, a sorceress that often battled Thor and The Avengers in the comics.

This seems similar to the Natalie Portman as Sif rumor, so check back with ReelzChannel.com for more updates!

With Samuel L. Jackson signed on to play S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury for 9 Marvel movies, it's inevitable that Jackson will get into some action, possibly even a movie all his own. Iron Man 2 is the next Marvel movie that Jackson will appear in, but he told MTV not to expect any action:

Not this time, not yet. We still haven't moved Nick Fury into the bad-ass zone. He's still just kind of a talker.

Jackson's scenes were limited to appearing with Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. However, the "bad-ass zone" may not be far away. When asked if Fury might be unleashed in The Avengers, Jackson replied:

Looking forward to that, yeah.

Due to renewed interest in Depression-era folk hero and renowned bank robber John Dillinger that the movie Public Enemies has generated, his grave at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis is seeing an upsurge in visits.

Dillinger, born in Indianapolis, was "Public Enemy No. 1" in the early 30's because of his string of bank robberies in the Midwest. Dillinger was shot to death outside of a Chicago theater and was laid to rest in the family plot where his mother and grandparents were buried. Crown Hill Cemetary president Keith Norwalk said that fans of Dillinger have been visiting his grave for years:

We're on the fourth marker for his grave. In former years, people would come and chip off corners.

Directed by Michael Mann, Public Enemies stars Johnny Depp as John Dillinger and Christian Bale as his nemesis, Melvin Purvis, Special Agent with the FBI.

The banners feature a close-up of the face of a Na'vi, the alien species whose struggle against invading humans is at the center of the Avatar story line. As in a recent description of the Na'vi by someone who saw the earlier footage, it's the eyes that grab you:

... luminescent (living) blue tall people with a lot of Lion influences in the face. They're about 10ft tall, so think more like double/triple the size of humans. They all seem to have long hair in a braid and a tail best described as lionesque ... Their eyes are a lot bigger than human eyes, and bright yellow. It's also one of the features that most draws you into believing this world.

This beautiful teaser banner definitely leaves you wanting to see more.

Director Michael Mann's (Heat, Hancock) latest movie, Public Enemies, opens nationwide today. The movie, a period piece that was shot in many of the actual locations for events fictionalized in the movie, recounts the manhunt for notorious bank robber John Dillinger (played by Johnny Depp) by Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), Special Agent with the FBI.

Mann has credited the generous incentives offered by the state of Wisconsin at the time of filming as part of the reason behind his decision to film there for six weeks. According to a recent interview with Bale, working with Mann was one of his incentives for signing up for Public Enemies:

Michael Mann is one of the finest filmmakers around. His ability to excel at all aspects of filmmaking is stunning. I loved his thoroughness.

I loved the research and his attention to detail. This is a director who has a unique perception of what every actor is doing at all moments.

However, it wasn't just the chance to work with a four-time Academy Sward-nominated director that appealed to Bale; he liked the guns, as well:

It was the last dying breath of the guns that had some character to them. I know the guns we have nowadays are absolutely fatal and have incredible precision. But back in this era, you had the guns where you could smell the shots afterwards.

I have to say that I enjoyed carrying them around with me.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Bruno has already gotten a lot of attention for its controversial depictions of homosexuality, and according to Movieline the movie's original ending would have made things much worse for Sacha Baron Cohen and director Larry Charles. The pair has already suffered the ire of the gay community, even though their proclaimed intention is to mock homophobia.

SPOILER ALERT!!! If you wish to see the movie without any prior knowledge, do not read on!

The movie concludes with Bruno making out with his male assistant in an Arkansas cage match, much do the dismay of the onlooking crowd (surprise, surprise). The spectators turn violent and attack the couple, resulting in serious injury. In the upcoming theatrical release, the audience is then shown Bruno and his partner, who happily reunite and decide to adopt a baby. The whole thing ends on an up note with a song supporting gay rights.

This is only part of what was seen, though, when Cohen and Charles screened the movie this past February for industry professionals. Writer-director Richard Day (Arrested Development, Ellen) – one of only two gay men at the screening, along with actor Jack Plotnick (Reno 911!, Drawn Together) – had this to say about the original ending and his subsequent comments to other viewers:

The cage-match kiss resulted in a violent attack on the couple. They then cut to a press event where they are announcing their marriage or plans to, I forget which. But the boyfriend is now drooling, seemingly brain-damaged, and in a wheelchair, played for laughs ... I started in and Jack joined with his thoughts. By the time I got to the bashing, the audience started defending the movie. They were annoyed with us for ruining the party ... I don’t know if we’re why they changed it, but if we are, I regret saying anything. It would have been better to let them expose their true point of view; thanks to us, they had a road map of the most egregious offenses and can also claim to have been responsive to our concerns.

Day also had a chance to read the script when he consulted with Cohen and Charles earlier. His response was that it read as if the authors "didn’t know much about actual gay life."

Sources have split on what Lee's scene entails. Lee's scene could have him, as King, interviewing Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) about his new, "black" Iron Man suit. Or, as told to Collider, Lee will be asking Downey Jr. when he will appear on the Larry King show. Perhaps they are both right, which would double the usual Lee screen time.

With Samuel L. Jackson signed for nine movies as Nick Fury, SciFiWire asked Finburg about a solo Fury movie:

Well, we have a multi-picture deal with him, so obviously we're in business with him for a while to come, and we really enjoy working with Sam.

Does it seem like that quote was followed by a huge, knowing wink to anyone else?

Finally, the way Finburg feels about the Avengers movies is the way only a Head of Marketing could:

Ultimately, the final expectation, the final verdict, is with the fans, and that's something that the team of Marvel does a phenomenal job at, actually making the best movie from the material they can.

Earlier today, Variety reported that George Clooney will sever his current ties with Warner Bros. Clooney's three-year-old production company, Smokehouse Pictures, will find a new home at Sony Pictures. The move ends a nine-year relationship, which began when Clooney founded Section Eight with Grant Heslov and Steven Soderbergh. Clooney and Heslov then founded Smokehouse in 2006.

While at Warner Bros., Clooney won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Syriana and was nominated for Best Director for Good Night, and Good Luck, which Haslov produced. In a statement to the press, Clooney said:

Warner Bros. has been a great place to work, and I’ve felt like part of a family for almost 20 years. So in moving on, I’m leaving a terrific company and a lot of dear friends. They’re a class act.

Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chair Amy Pascal seemed enthusiastic about welcoming Clooney.

We couldn't be more excited to be in business with them. The broad range of quality projects they have championed and the compelling and sometimes provocative material they support says everything about their company and their creative aspirations ... While we have been trimming production deals overall for the last few years, we see real value in opening our doors to producers with their critical and commercial track record and their artistic point of view.

I think they reviewed the wrong movie. They just don't understand the movie and its audience. It's silly fun. I am convinced that [critics] are born with the anti-fun gene. The reviews are just so vicious. A lot of them are more personal than anything else.

Transformers 3 has already been given a release date of July 1, 2011, though Bay says that Paramount was off by one year and the movie will arrive in 2012, not 2011. Bay told MTV that he needs some time away from the Transformers and would like to make a "small movie in-between [Transformers 2 and Transformers 3]."

That "small movie" (for Bay that means a movie with only a $100 million dollar budget) is either the bodybuilding comedy Pain & Gain, based on a Miami New Times article, or I Am Number Four, an adaptation of an unpublished science fiction book about nine alien teens attending high school on Earth to hide from their home planet's enemy. The book is co-written by James Frey, who wrote the infamous autobiography of lies A Million Little Pieces.

Playing a German psychopath recruited into the professional league of the "Nazi-killing business," Til Schweiger is impressively minimalist, communicating his reactions by only the smallest of gestures. We also get to see more of Mike Myers as a very proper British general, introducing the Basterds and setting up the climactic attack on the cinema. And the trailer wraps up with a laugh, rather than a bang, as SS Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) fails to impress the Basterds with his command of American idioms.

In a recent interview, Watson said:

My dad never told me how much money I was earning. Then, when I hit 18, he was like, "I want you to understand that your money isn't some kind of abstract concept. I want you to have a feel for what it's worth and what you can do with it."

Watson is currently promoting the sixth film in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but she plans on attending college in the fall. She called the start of her school life a "cut-off point" in her life.

It's going to sound dramatic, but I feel like it's going to be my life over as I know it. My whole life has been about Harry Potter and then all of that will shut down and I don't know what it will be like.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince also stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley.

Due for release sometime in 2011, The Fighter is being directed by David O. Russell, who helmed I Heart Huckabees, Three Kings, Spanking the Monkey, and the upcoming political comedy Nailed starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal. The Fighter is based on the true story of "Irish" Micky Ward, a boxer from South Boston who rose to prominence on the welterweight circuit during the mid-1980s.

Wahlberg will portray Ward, while Bale will play Ward's half-brother, Dicky Eklund, who recovered from drug addiction to help guide Ward's career. Leo will portray Ward's mother. If cast, Adams would play the part of a bartender who develops a romantic relationship with Ward.

Adams's other upcoming projects include Julie & Julia, in which she will star opposite Meryl Streep. She also recently finished filming for Anand Tucker's romantic comedy Leap Year.

Summit appear to be mainly focusing on Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, with Robert Pattinson seemingly nothing more than an afterthought. Given that the majority of the Twilight fanbase is hardcore Edward/Pattinson fans, we're not sure this is the right move. What do you think? Would you rather see Pattinson or Lautner taking center stage on New Moon promotional materials?

However, that is not the case with Michael Mann's latest film. Partially based on the book Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34 by Bryan Burrough, the film follows FBI Special Agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) and his attempt to capture the infamous bank-robber-turned Depression-era-hero John Dillinger (Johnny Depp). Burrough recently wrote an article praising Mann's adaptation and the historical accuracy of the film:

This is the first Dillinger and the first gangster movie I'm aware of that takes great pains to get not only the details but the sites right. Mann not only shot at the actual scene of Dillinger's greatest jailbreak, the lockup in Crown Point, Ind., but at the actual scene of his greatest shootout, at the Little Bohemia lodge. Somehow he prevailed upon Chicago to hand over six entire blocks of North Lincoln Avenue, where Dillinger memorably met his fate outside the Biograph Theater one hot night in July 1934.

Burrough went on to say:

Yes, I know it's just a movie, and I know most in the audience won't especially care that the details are historically accurate, but I can vividly remember looking around and smiling nevertheless, happy that, in this one small case at least, Hollywood was getting it right.
