| 1. | In the first chapter of New Moon, Bella has a dream that she's standing in a bright shaft of sunlight looking at someone. Who does she first see? |
A) Herself
B) Jacob
C) Gran
D) Edward
Answer: C) Bella sees the soft and withered face of her Grandma Marie, who has been dead for six years. If you said A or D, you're not totally off -- the dream soon reveals that she's looking at an aged version of herself in a mirror, who is then approached by the ageless Edward. |
| 2. | The first sequel Stephenie Meyer wrote to Twilight wasn't New Moon. What was it? |
A) Eclipse
B) Breaking Dawn
C) Midnight Sun
D) Forever Dawn
Answer: D) This unpublished book, which she gave to her sister, grew out of one of the three 100-plus-page epilogues she wrote after finishing Twilight. (And in case you're wondering, Meyer has said that she doesn't plan to make Forever Dawn public.) |
| 3. | Which international version of New Moon has a wolf on the cover? |

| 4. | When distributing advanced reading copies of New Moon to fans, what did Meyer ask them to do? |
A) Not hate Edward
B) Read it twice
C) Read it in a single sitting
D) Not hate Jacob
Answer: B) We'll let Meyer answer this one: "I asked people [to] read New Moon twice...and this is why: the first time through New Moon, I've found that readers are so anxious about the absence of Edward that they can't settle into the middle portion of the book. They skim and speed read and flip ahead until, at last, they find him again. However, at that point they've missed the main section of the novel almost completely. On a second reading, knowing that Edward will return to the story at the proper place and time, the reader can slow down and enjoy the wondrousness that is Jacob Black." |
| 5. | The epigraph at the beginning of New Moon comes from Romeo and Juliet, but it's from a different scene than Meyer first selected. What reason did she have for changing it? |
A) It was too scary

C) It was too depressing
D) It was too well known
Answer: B) She wanted a quote that was "more representative of danger and potential heartbreak." |
| 6. | Because she noticed fans ascribing "the most nefarious motives to Jacob Black," Meyer wrote an online version of the New Moon story as seen through Jacob's eyes. What is it called? |
A) Full Moon
B) Being Jacob Black
C) Miscalculation
D) Rising Moon
| 7. | In Chapter 24, "Vote," Bella asks the Cullens to weigh in on whether she should join the family. Having been outvoted, a distressed Edward stalks into another room and breaks something with "an earsplitting crash." What was it? |
A) Plasma TV
B) Wall of windows
C) Glass coffee table
D) Crystal vase with roses
Answer: A) Again, we'll let Meyer answer this one: "Edward ripped into halves a sixty-inch plasma TV that the Cullens had shipped in from Korea because it's not available in the states yet. Emmett was a bit annoyed." |
