LaBeouf Refutes Indy 4 Story
By Thomas Leupp
While promoting his upcoming Sony Pictures Animation project Surf's Up, Shia LaBeouf flatly denied that he had been cast in the role of Indy's son in the long-awaited fourth Indiana Jones film, as reported by Variety, Slate and other prominent media outlets:
"I haven't gotten that role yet," declared LaBeouf. "It's just a rumor started on the internet. It's a great rumor."
Not that he would reject the role if it was offered. "It would be great if it happened," he said, "but it hasn't yet. If it does, I'm in. It's just a rumor now.
"They haven't even had auditions," he added. "And there's no script."
Of course, LaBeouf could simply be playing the classic cat-and-mouse publicity game in an attempt to gain an advantage in negotiations with the studio, but the 20 year-old actor doesn't appear all that sophisticated in the art of media relations (i.e. lying) yet. We'll keep you posted on the developments as updates roll in.
