Golden Globe Reactions

In case you didn't already hear (and seriously, where have you been all morning???) the nominations for the Golden Globes went out this morning.

We'll be updating this page with reactions all day, so keep checking back for updates!

Javier Bardem on his nomination for No Country For Old Men:

"Working with the Coens has always been a dream of mine, and to be recognized for my work in one of their films is truly an honor. Muchas gracias to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association!"

Oprah Winfrey and Kate Forte from Harpo Films on nominations for The Great Debaters:

"We are grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for recognizing The Great Debaters with this nomination.  This film is a tribute to all those who strive to exceed expectations, especially those who were determined to be successful in a time when no one thought they could. We are very proud of this film, its message and its artistry."

Jason Reitman on nominations for Juno:

This is a movie that rests on the shoulders of its great cast and screenwriter, so I can't think of anything more deserving than the nominations for Ellen and Diablo. They are both at the front of incredible careers. The best picture nomination is a real thrill. I never really expected anything like that in my career, let alone two years in a row.

Amy Ryan on her nomination for Gone Baby Gone:

“Playing Helene McCready, such a well written and delicious character, was such a thrill. To be recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press for this is such a huge honor and I am incredibly touched and grateful. I am forever thankful to Ben Affleck, an amazingly gifted director, my fellow cast members, and for Ben and Aaron Stockard's beautiful script.”

Amy Adams on her nomination for Enchanted:

Enchanted has been a wonderful experience for me.  I am grateful for my cast mates, the crew, Disney and everyone involved with making the film.  It’s been magical.”

Casey Affleck on his nomination for The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford:

“I am really proud to be part of Andrew Dominik's film and it is an honor to be included with such a great group of actors.”

Jodie Foster on her nomination for The Brave One:

"The nomination is so exciting and surprising at the same time. Never saw it coming... It's strange to continue to feel a character in your blood long after it wraps. I am so proud of The Brave One, of where Neil Jordan took the character of Erica Bain. The experience of playing her has moved me deeper than anything I can remember. I can't wait to have some rubber chicken and listen to the unscripted banter with all of those fine actresses."

Sweeney Todd reactions:

Tim Burton:

"It's a great honor to receive this nomination from the HFPA. I couldn't be more thrilled for Johnny, Helena and the film."

Helena Bonham Carter:

“I’m very happy!  I am fairly globular at the moment as I am about to have a baby. Tim (Burton, her partner) wants to paint my belly gold!”

Johnny Depp:

"What an honor to even be mentioned alongside such a talented bunch. Very excited for Tim and Helena and the film!!! Super-flattered and immensely thankful to the HFPA for the nomination."

Walk Hard reactions:

John C. Reilly:

“I am thrilled and honored that the HFPA has acknowledged the hard work of everyone who poured their hearts into Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. I look forward to celebrating our film and all the other great movies, comedic and dramatic, at this year's Golden Globes. I am proud to carry the torch for Jake Kasdan, Judd Apatow, and Mike Andrews--without whom I could not have pulled off this performance. Somewhere, Dewey Cox is smiling.

Judd Apatow:

"I'm very proud of John C. Reilly and even more proud of Dewey Cox. Dewey would have loved this if he wasn't dead."

Clint Eastwood on Grace is Gone:

"It’s an honor to be nominated and to be involved with Grace is Gone. I was deeply moved by the story in many ways. Being able to express those emotions through music has been a very gratifying experience. I want to especially thank John Cusack whose performance was an inspiration, writer/director James Strouse for a touching story and Harvey Weinstein for the opportunity to create the score.

Tom Wilkinson on Michael Clayton:

"How wonderful it is for Michael Clayton to receive this attention. I couldn't be happier for George, Tilda, Tony and of course myself. I love the Golden Globes. I've been there a few times. It's very relaxed and I look forward to going again."
