Jim Carrey performs bungee stunt

Funnyman Jim Carrey throws himself into his work--literally.

Today in Pasadena on the last day of filming for his upcoming comedy Yes Man, Carrey performed his own stunt--for a scene in which his character bungee jumps off a bridge. "This is what you've gotta do to compete with Britney Spears," said an exhilarated but still jokey Carrey just after successfully performing the stunt.

Based on a memoir by Danny Wallace, Yes Man is about a man who says no to everything, and then decides to change his life by saying yes to everything. It's about "the idea if you say yes to things, you're generally better off,' Carrey explained.

The scene he filmed today falls somewhere in the middle of the movie, Carrey confirmed, "when my girlfriend tells me to jump off a bridge."

Although one would imagine the insurance fees a studio would have to put up to cover a star of Carrey's magnitude doing this sort of stunt would be prohibitively astronomical, they got around it by doing it at the end of the shooting period--production technically wrapped yesterday. "This is about the most dangerous thing I've done as a stunt," Carrey grinned after being pulled back onto the bridge.

So after diving150 feet into the air over the Arroyo Seco, would he jump again? "I would! But today--no," he quipped.

Carrey next goes into production on his version of A Christmas Carol with Robert Zemeckis.
