Batman Begins Poster

2005

Batman Begins

Director Chris Nolan proves you don't have to dumb down a comic movie to appeal to audiences with this masterpiece of the genre.
Superman II: Donner Cut Poster

2006

Superman II: The Donner Cut

It took over 20 years before Richard Donner got the chance to fix Richard Lester's mistakes, but the result was well worth the wait.
Superman Poster

1978

Superman

The comic movie that invented the genre and etched Christopher Reeve in stone as the greatest to ever don the blue and red tights.
Spider-Man Poster

2002

Spider-Man

Sam Raimi seemed like an unlikely choice to direct, but his fresh, fun take breathed new life into everyone's favorite web-crawler.
X-Men Poster

2000

X-Men

Bryan Singer managed to juggle a ton of characters, origin stories and also keep the action chugging along.
Batman (1989)

Blade (1998)

Iron Man Poster

2008

Iron Man

Downey Jr. is the perfect incarnation of Tony Stark on screen and Favreau enters the big time even if the ending is a little too Michael Bay.
Hellboy (2004)

Sin City (2005)

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Spider-Man 3 Poster

2007

Spider-Man 3

Raimi's first misstep in the comic franchise was simply a case of too many eggs in one basket.
X-Men: The Last Stand Poster

2006

X-Men: The Last Stand

Brett Ratner delivers a competent if only completely forgettable entry into the franchise.
Blade 2 (2002)

Constantine (2005)

Popeye (1980)

300 (2006)

The Crow (1994)

Flash Gordon (1980)

Swamp Thing (1982)

The Hulk Poster

2003

The Hulk

Ang Lee's take on the big green monster is certainly interesting, but a thinking man's take of daddy issues wasn't exactly the movie Hulk fans were calling out for. Just SMASH Hulk, SMASH!

Dick Tracy (1990)

Daredevil Poster

2003

Daredevil

Miscast in terms of star power and director (and yet they later gave him Ghost Rider), sadly this blind crusader of justice will have to wait for his proper tribute on the big screen.
TMNT (2007)

Ghost Rider (2007)

The Punisher Poster

2004

The Punisher

Barely better than the oft-mocked 1990 Dolph Lundgren version, the mistake was toning down the Punisher and trying to make his actions justifiably PC.
Spawn (1997)

Fantastic Four Poster

2005

Fantastic Four (every entry in the series)

Who in their right mind thought the director of Barbershop and Taxi should be handling a superhero franchise?
Judge Dredd Poster

1995

Judge Dredd

Stallone tried to add another endless franchise to a career loaded with sequels, but the end result seemed more like a comedy, albeit unintentionally.
Superman 3 (1983)

Elektra Poster

2005

Elektra

Hmmm, a spin-off to a movie that wasn't that good in the first place? Probably should have gone direct-to-video with this one.
Supergirl (1984)

Batman and Robin Poster

1997

Batman and Robin

The oft-maligned reigning king of bad comic movies is at least fun as a drinking game. Every time you see a nipple perhaps?
Catwoman Poster

2004

Catwoman

The proverbial bottom-of-the-barrel for the genre. The only good thing to come out of it is the fact that future comic turkeys can always say, 'Hey, it was better than Catwoman.'

Seriously? 300? Just decent - and on par with Popeye and the Ninja Turtles?? Lower than Spiderman 3? Define definitive!

Have to agree. I thought 300 was very well done. I remember Popeye and thinking how bad that movie was. 300 is way out of that league.

No way in hell Spider-man 2 is below the original. I would even put it below Batman Begins. I might put Fantastic Four: ROTSS into the mediocre section. Many people would disagree with me, but I would put Spider-man 3 into the lower good section. V fro Vendetta should be higher up too.

The first of the Fantastic Four should be decent. Spiderman three was the second best in the franchise so far. (The second one was lousy.)
