Mike Richards: Alright well another guy that's pretty tough is Wolverine, we met him in the X-Men movies. But now there's a movie coming out that going to tell us how he got to be so tough. Dailies' Gerrad Hall joins me now.
Gerrad Hall: Yeah Mike, Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman, he surprised all of us and showed up here at Comic-Con to talk about that movie that's not coming out until May 2009.
Hugh Jackman: I really wanted to come here today to thank the fans. I've never brought Wolverine here. For whatever reason, the movies always come out before Comic-Con's been on. I mean, the fans embraced X-Men back in 2000 when comic book movies were not popular with the studios and since then you've seen what's happened.
I said to everybody on the film, and I kind of made a big speech at the beginning. I said, "Listen this is not X-Men 4." We are reinventing the wheel and the expectations are high and will be even higher than what we've had before. So on every level, every department, we've got to exceed expectations."
My body, I got to be in better shape than I've ever been before, which immediately I think, "Wow, its not going to be easy."
[Wolverine is] Mad Max, he's Dirty Harry, he's that kind of character that I grew up loving.
The movie is big. I don't want anyone to think this is, like, a small spinoff movie. It's big, it's action packed, its very entertaining, and it is, uh, it's pretty badass. Wolverine is, uh, lets face it, he's not Superman. He doesn't always do the right thing.
Gerrad Hall: Such a cool guy, a great character, Mike. I've been told that here at Comic-Con more people dress up like Wolverine than any other X-Men character. Of course, it was a comic book first so lots of love here for it.
Mike Richards: Absolutely, I've seen a couple of Wolverines walking around. Thanks very much, Gerrad.
