ReelzChannel's Priscilla Hojiwala sat down with Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight Schrute on The Office, to talk about his role in The Rocker as a washed-up hasbeen getting a second chance.

What attracted you to this role, playing "The Fish"?

Wilson: I wanted to wear tight pants. I had an inkling that I would get to wear some really tight spandex and pleather. And there is spandex and pleather a plenty. Try saying that three times fast, Priscilla. Priscilla, there is spandex and pleather a plenty....

Wow, that was good. Talented. It was a good opportunity for you to play out the rock star fantasy that a lot of us have.

Wilson: This is what we get to do as actors. It's awesome. I get paid, pretty well, to play these rolls and live out these crazy fantasies. So yeah, I got to be a rock star in this movie. Maybe the next one I can be a lion tamer. Or a mountain climber. Or a spelunker -- something like that, you know. All of my crazy fantasies.

What was the best part of the whole experience? You got to interact with a lot of the younger actors. The whole arena thing was amazing.

Wilson: I got to live the life of a rock star and every facet of it. I had groupies. I was sweaty. I got to rock out. I got to play in an arena. I got to trash a hotel room. I got to ride a tricycle into a swimming pool. I mean, you name it -- I got to kiss Christina Applegate. How great is that? It's awesome!

It's surprising how touching the movie is because it does have some really...

Wilson: It is. That's one thing that really drew me to the script. It was very funny and there were so many great set routines. The naked drummer was hysterical. But the story that it tells -- of this guy coming of age 20 years too late, getting a second chance at fame, getting to live his dream and mature over a course of an hour and a half -- is really remarkable. It's a very touching film. I've talked to a lot of people that have been genuinely moved by it. I think that's a great thing.

A lot of people who see the trailer may think, "Oh, this is just about a rock band or some guy living out his dream." But there's definitely more than that. What do you think the message is?

Wilson: I think it's about how you never know the way you'll get to live out your dream, ultimately. You just don't know what life has in store for you. You might think your life is this way. Then it throws you a curve ball and you have to have the maturity to live your dream some other way.

Have you kept up your musical talent?

Wilson: I have the drum set in my garage, with the flames on it, and I pound away every day.

You're rockin' out still?

Wilson: I rock out and my neighbors hate me.

I doubt that.

Wilson: Indeed, they do.
