Interview with Disaster Movie's Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian

Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian wrestlingCarmen Electra has made a career out of parody movies, most with the word "movie" in the title: Scary Movie (2000), Scary Movie 4 (2006), Date Movie (2006), Epic Movie (2007), and most recently Meet the Spartans (2008). Now she's co-starring -- and wrestling with -- reality show star and celebutante Kim Kardashian in Disaster Movie, opening Friday, August 29. Electra recently told World Entertainment News Network that she finds her wrestling partner "hot."

While we didn't pursue that line of questioning, ReelzChannel recently sat down with Electra and Kardashian to talk about the latest in a long line of parody movies.

RC: In Disaster Movie, you guys are spoofing Juno, and Ironman, and some big superhero movies. Who do you take the biggest jab at?

Kim Kardashian: It depends, I think, who you're a fan of. Some people might say Sex and the City. Not really, Hancock. Everything's pretty light. I'd say maybe Amy Winehouse.

Carmen Electra: Yeah, probably -- we haven't had a chance to see the movie yet. Everything's turning around so fast. We just finished shooting and its coming out August 29. Hopefully, we'll get to see it soon.

RC: Kim, this is your first feature. But you're kind of used to having cameras around with the reality show and everything ... what was the difference in doing a movie?

Kim Kardashian: Well, on the reality show it's just whatever we do, whatever we want, us even sleeping...

RC: You're supposed to just act like they're not there...

Kim Kardashian: Exactly. Where this, it's a job. You get up every day. You have to know your lines. You have to get into character. I was playing a girl named Lisa -- I wasn't really like her at all. Or even being a WWE Diva fighting Carmen. That's not me, ya know? So, you definitely have to get into the character and study at it.

Carmen Electra: It was kind of hard for us because we actually got along so well. It was weird to actually...

Kim Kardashian: We had to like pull each other's hair. Smack 'em down.

Carmen Electra: She's the nicest person I've ever met. I don't want to pull her hair!

ARTICLE INTERMISSION: Watch diva wrestling. Interview continues below.

RC: You're an assassin in this, yes?

Carmen Electra: Yes, I play a deadly assassin -- spoofing the movie Wanted. It was interesting because the movie wasn't out yet. So, we basically had to watch the trailer and just do the "bend the bullet" scene. The cool thing, for me, was having all the tattoos, having guns, and being a badass. But I really didn't spoof Angelina Jolie personally. And I wouldn't do that because I'm too sensitive, I think.

Kim Kardashian: I would.

Carmen Electra: But I was honored to get to play her in the spoof. And it was great working with Kim, our fun scene in the ring.

RC: Would you do one again?

Carmen Electra: Absolutely.

Kim Kardashian:Yeah. The directors, the producers, everyone was so amazing to work with. They have such a good reputation for making everybody feel so comfortable. They really brought something out of me that at first I was pretty insecure about. This is my first film, and I fell in love with acting. I definitely want to do more. I think it's really because of this experience -- I was warned that any other experience won't be like this, but it's a good one to start from.

Carmen Electra: Aaron [Seltzer] and Jason [Friedberg] are really cool.

RC: Well, you've worked with them several times...

Carmen Electra: Yeah. Epic Movie, Date Movie, Meet the Spartans, now Disaster Movie. They're like family. So, they call me up and I'm there.

RC: Besides the obvious -- that it's just fun -- why do you keep coming back to these? Is it the guys?

Carmen Electra: Part of it is working with the guys. But I've always had a good sense of humor about myself, just even early on with Scary Movie, things I would do for MTV. I've always loved to have fun and work on projects that are fun, that make you laugh. So this is a no brainer.

RC: Yeah, if you're not having fun at work then why be doing it, right?

Carmen Electra: Exactly. Life's too short.

RC: Kim, you said you've got the acting bug now. Was that something you ever imagined? Or is it all because of the reality show, with the cameras being around, that you've kind of started thinking, "Well, maybe I can do this." Fashion was your life, really, before this...

Kim Kardashian: Yes, fashion was my life. I do have a clothing store, Dash. But doing the show, you get used to all the cameras around. And my sister Chloe actually started taking acting classes. She had me go to a class with her. So I just starting thinking about it and feeling it out. This was an amazing opportunity for me, and I took it, and I'm so happy I did.

RC: The fight between the two of you, stunts, CGI -- you have to do all of it?

Carmen Electra: Absolutely. I mean, we had stunt doubles doing some of the crazy stuff in our scenes. But we did a lot of it.

Kim Kardashian: They taught us everything and choreographed this amazing fight. Then we had this freestyle time where we thought we'd be a little shy -- we actually really got into it and came back with bruises all over our arms.

RC: Did you come away with...

Carmen Electra: Yes, my back. My back was killing me for, like, a week after. But we really got into it. It was fun.

carmen electra and kim karsashian are two of the most talentless people in show business; in fact, ANYONE involved in this movie is talentless.
