ReelzChannel Directors' Event: The Music
By ReelzChannel Staff
Last night ReelzChannel hosted an event at Cinespace in Hollywood to honor directors. The night featured a collection of up-and-coming directors and young Hollywood talent.
Live music highlighted the evening as three local Cali bands played to the packed house. First up were Sign of the Fox, whose third album, For Anybody Else, was released earlier this year. Many partygoers were just arriving when Fox took the stage, but as their set gained momentum, guests gradually entered the rear-stage bar area and took in the band as the crowd started to grow.
Fox set the stage nicely for the second performer of the evening, Laura Duncan, whose bluesy-rock-soul sound delivered an appropriately mellow mood. Some mingled while others just stopped in for a song or two. Duncan clearly gathered a few new converts, mesmerized enough by the blonde British export and co. to take a temporary break from chitchat and watch their set attentively from start to finish.
Finally, the evening ended with REPEATER, a five-piece band out of Long Beach whose diverse influences include David Bowie, Joy Division, and The Cure. Watching REPEATER work the room like seasoned veterans, you'd never know they formed only three years ago. As the party headed towards its crescendo, REPEATER's haunting brand of alt-rock helped maintain the party's energy right on through to evening's end.
Sign of the Fox, Laura Duncan, and REPEATER are playing live locally and touring regularly. To learn more about these bands, find out when you can check them out live, or take a listen to their music, follow the links below to their official sites and MySpace pages.
