The Truth and Fiction about "Batman 3"

BatmanWith The Dark Knight returning to theaters on January 23, 2009, and the DVD already setting record sales, internet speculation has run rampant about the sequel. Let's separate the facts and the rumors about "Batman 3":

Christopher Nolan is returning to direct the sequel

Verdict: Possible

While nothing substantial seems to be standing in the way of this, Nolan has not signed a contract. Yet. AICN reports Nolan will likely shoot The Prisoner next, and Nolan told the LA Times is not being pressured by Warner Bros. to make the Batman sequel because "they know that I really needed to go on holiday and take some time to figure what I want to do next."

In an interview with Collider, Warner Bros. president Alan Horn confirmed that they won't rush Nolan because "we have a wonderful relationship with him and we are going to be respectful of his timing and we want to get it right."

All signs point to Nolan returning, but until that becomes official, there's nothing to substantiate that he will direct the sequel.

Eddie Murphy cast as The Riddler, Shia LaBeouf as Robin

Verdict: Rumor

The fact that this surfaced from notorious British tabloid The Sun should have been warning enough, but reports of the casting spread like wildfire over the Internet. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately for the Meet Dave crowd, this is unsubstantiated. What's next, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze? Wait a minute...

Rachel Weisz cast as Catwoman

Verdict: Rumor

Probably because so many online journalists hoped it was true, this rumor seemed almost probable. Again, with Nolan not even signed on for a sequel, this has to be filed under "hopeful speculation."

There's a great script

Verdict: Rumor

There's not even a story treatment, and Warner Bros. is going to give Nolan all the time he needs to put one together. Says Horn: "We've been talking to Chris and what we have to do is get him in the right place and have him tell us what he thinks the notion might be for a great story." Months ago, Nolan confirmed his desire to create a good story "that's going to keep me emotionally invested for the couple of years" before he commits to direct the sequel.

Warner Bros. is developing a Commissioner Gordon spin-off starring Gary Oldman

Verdict: True (in our minds)

As enticing as it would be to watch Oldman and Gotham's most famous mustache battle the criminals on the streets of Gotham, we completely made that up. It felt good, too.

While the public -- not to mention Warner Bros. -- want a sequel to happen sooner than later, we'll have to wait for Nolan to make up his mind. Until there's a story and script written or a definitive agreement on Nolan returning, unfortunately there are nothing but rumors to report.

Many People think that "Batman 3" will be amazing, when inn fact it has the possibilty of sucking (Hopefully not), but Christopher Nolan needs to take his time and come up with an awesome story. For Example, While still recovering from the death of Rachel And Harvey. Batman must try and stop gotham's latest threat... The Riddler. Meanwhile Bruce Wayne must go head to head with the "gentleman of crime" himself Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. The Riddler specializes in mindbenders and life or death choices. The Penguin ,however, can battle Batman with his High-Technological Umbrellas.

So Please give Christopher Nolan and his Writers some time to come up with a great story
P.S - DON'T GET MAD IF IT ISN'T AS GOOD AS "THE DARK KNIGHT" BECAUSE EVERYONE WANTED A THIRD ONE AND DIDN'T GIVE HIM ENOUGH TIME TO WRITE A GOOD ONE.

Johnny Depp has to play Riddler. Its the perfect role for him. It would not be a great film without 2 villians, so add Jessica Alba as Catwoman. They should also have a cameo with Phillip S Hoffman as the Penguin and have penguin be a main villan in the 4th film.A perfect name for Batmn 3 is The Dark Knight Returns.

If Nolan would like to keep his pockets realy REALLY full, I suggest he makes another script passes it out gives actors a dead line to RSVP and start ASAP. If he's looking for another oscar worthy performing film the i also suggest Philllip Seymour Hpffman as the Penguin (if he's even a considered future villain), JohnnyDepp as the Riddler, Hilary Swank as Poison Ivy (AGAIN, if that a considered villian), and if you want to keep the action packed comic book adaptation films civilized as humanly possible then PLEASE, do it for the guys and DONT BRING SHIA LEABUFF!!! While im making request no Eddie Murphy and no Jack Black!!!! Thank You.

Guy Pearce as the Riddler! That's what i hear at least. Its really probable sins he worked with Nolan on Memento and they know each other. I personally would love to see him play the part of the Riddler. I also hear a rumor that the person who will play the Riddler makes a cameo in The Dark Knight? Does anyone know if this is true?!
