The Hottest Comic Book Movie Babes of 2009

Camilla Belle as Kira Hudson in Push

Camilla Belle

...as Kira Hudson in Push

Belle first came to our attention as the horror hottie in the remake When a Stranger Calls, and later as the cute cavegirl in the prehistoric flick 10,000 B.C.

This month, she stars in Push, a comic book movie about psychic espionage where artificially enhanced paranormal operatives have the ability to move objects with their minds, see the future, create new realities, and kill without ever touching their victims. Against this setting, a young man (Chris Evans) and a teenage girl (Dakota Fanning) take on a clandestine agency, the Division, in a race to find Kira (Camilla Belle), an escaped "pusher" who may hold the key to ending the Division's program and determine the future of civilization.

Belle is the kind of classic beauty we're more than happy to watch on screen. Not just another pretty face, she plays classical piano and works with several charities. She's proud of her Brazillian heritage and speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish.

With all that class, she'll probably never make a movie with a nude scene... but we can still dream, right?

Malin Akerman

...as Silk Spectre II in Watchmen

Akerman is one of two super hotties to drool over in the upcoming Watchmen movie.

Watchmen, considered one of the most celebrated comic books of all time, is a crime-conspiracy story that provided the first realistic look at the behind-the-heroics lives of costumed adventurers. Set in an alternate 80's-style Cold War America, Watchmen follows the masked vigilante Rorschach as he investigates the murder of a fellow costumed adventurer and uncovers a doomsday conspiracy.

She plays female lead Laurie Juspeczyk, a modern femme fatale named Silk Spectre II. The daughter of Sally Jupiter (Carla Gugino), her character's a second-generation costumed adventurer that takes out her opponents with long-legged high kicks.

You may remember Akerman as the psycho bride from hell in The Heartbreak Kid, which was her highest profile role to date. But soon everybody will know her for Watchmen.

Carla Gugino as Sally Jupiter in Watchmen

Carla Gugino

...as Sally Jupiter in Watchmen

Gugino, our second comic book babe from Watchmen, plays overbearing mom to Akerman's character. Sally Jupiter, now a super-MILF, was the heroic hottie of an earlier era. So unfortunately, much of her hotness will be covered over with wrinkles and age-spots in the movie. But thanks to flashbacks, there will still be some sexy scenes of Sally in her prime.

In fact, Gugino's character has a flashback that is one of the more shocking scenes in the movie. (She is raped by the Comedian, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.) When asked about this scene, she remarked:

"It was really brutal. It was brutal to shoot, but that was one of the things [director] Zack [Snyder] said to me from the start: 'I really want this to be incredibly brutal. It's not a turn-on kind of story. It's bad.' It's important that we did that. I think, hopefully, it will be really powerful. It's so informative of so many things thematically in the movie and certainly in the graphic novel, not only for this character but for the Comedian and ultimately [her daughter] Laurie. Many things stem from that particular situation."

Emmy Rossum

...as Bulma of Dragonball Evolution

If you don't recognize her, then you probably didn't see the big-screen version of The Phantom of the Opera, made from the hit Broadway musical.

Known more as a sweet, singing, girl-next-door type, luscious Emmy Rossum has taken a bold step to star in a live-action movie made from Japanese anime and manga, but that leap scores her a place on our comic book movie babes list.

Dragonball Evolution comes out of a hugely popular martial arts-oriented comic book and cartoon geared to guys who like to punch and kick things. So what is pretty, little Rossum doing in this, you ask? She plays the part of Bulma, friend to Goku and daughter of a brilliant scientist. She also has some science skills and uses them to advance the plot at several important points. But her main role is damsel-in-distress type stuff.

If the movie doesn't end up sucking eggs, which a lot of fans have been worrying about, we can see Rossum getting even more high-profile roles. So, since we want to continue to gaze upon her hotness, we hope the movie rocks.

Jamie Chung as Chi Chi of Dragonball Evolution

Jamie Chung

...as Chi Chi of Dragonball Evolution

Another soon-to-be-seen Dragonball babe, Chi Chi is the love interest to lead character Goku. Eventually, they get married and have a kid, but it probably won't get that far in the movie.

In the anime and manga, she is portrayed as the motherly type, but it looks like her role in the movie will have her karate chopping and high-kicking with the rest of the cast.

Chung rose to fame first as a Real World: San Diego cast member, and spun that off into movie and series deals. Most recently, she costarred in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and appeared in episodes of CSI: New York and Veronica Mars. She is currently starring in the ABC Family show Samurai Girl, so this role is right up her alley.

Eriko Tamura

...as Mai of Dragonball Evolution

With a huge TV, movie, and singing career established in Japan, Eriko Tamura is already a superstar in her homeland. And now, this honey is to be shared with the English-speaking world via Dragonball Evolution.

You probably didn't notice her first American debut, which was a bit of a bomb -- as Princess Yaeko in the much-maligned second season of the TV series Heroes. But we're sure she'll get much more positive exposure as the villianous vixen Mai.

Mai is the hottie henchman of lead bad guy Piccolo in the Dragonball movie, so she's going to be battling the hero Goku, played by Justin Chatwin.

Regarding the role, Tamura told Variety:

"I feel deeply honored to have been cast in the role of Mai because Akira Toriyama's manga DRAGONBALL is so incredibly well-known among the people of Japan and brings together such a rich mythology of characters. The film has already begun shooting in Mexico and although we have a lot of work ahead of us, I look forward to a successful collaboration with filmmakers James Wong and Stephen Chow. DRAGONBALL is a very exciting project for all of us."

She sounds very sweet, so it will be interesting to see how she pulls off being a baddie.

Lynn Collins as Silver Fox in X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Lynn Collins

...as Silver Fox in X-Men Origins: Wolverine

The Wolverine movie looks like a sweaty guyfest with not a lot of screen time for the few females in the film. However, we couldn't keep ourselves from showcasing the briefly seen, but beautiful, babes in this year's X-sequel.

First out of the gate is the Silver Fox, played by lovely Lynn Collins. She has been featured in the HBO Vampire series True Blood, but has only had bit parts on her resume before that.

Her character, Silver Fox, is a Blackfoot Indian who falls in love with the pre-weaponized Wolverine and shares a secluded life with him in a remote cabin in the Canadian Rockies. In the comics, Logan's rival Victor Creed (a.k.a. Sabertooth) ends up raping her, leaving her for dead. But later, all three end up meeting again in the Weapon X program.

Tahyna Tozzi

...as Emma Frost in X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Tahyna Tozzi, an Australian model, was a cast member of the popular teen TV show Blue Water High about a school with a special course in surfing -- sort of the teen version of Baywatch. Now, all growed up, hottie Tozzi has scored the role of Emma Frost (a.k.a the White Queen), a mutant telepath who also possesses the ability to turn into diamond.

While it looks like Tozzi won't be a major player in the movie, fanboys the world over reacted with lust when she appeared in the first trailer. The White Queen has always been a geek favorite, and was voted the hottest female character of the Marvel Universe. Tozzi looks to be perfect for the role, so lets hope we see more of her.

Megan Fox as Mikaela Banes of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Megan Fox

...as Mikaela Banes of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Not only nerdboys are in love with the sultry Megan Fox. She's attained mass-appeal from all mankind ever since she was brought into the limelight by the first Transformers. Fox played Shia's side-kick car mechanic in the 2007 movie.

After that blockbuster, Fox has been getting lots of work as a model, and has been featured in the men's magazines FHM, GQ, and Maxim.

Now we'll get a second look at her in Transformers ROTF, and hope that the franchise has a few more sequels. She's signed on for at least two, but if this is the last one, we may have another outlet for our Fox fix with the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider series, which has Fox as the rumored front-runner to take over for Angelina Jolie.

Sienna Miller

...as the Baroness in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Another model turned actress, English beauty Sienna Miller may be more well known for her breakup with serial sex fiend Jude Law, who was notorious for ruining relationships with nanny nookie.

Now Miller's back on a different kind of runway (the kind with F-22s), sporting head-to-toe leather, including wedge heels, studded belt, and black trench coat in her role as the dangerous and beautiful Baroness in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. This live-action Army adventure came out of the popular action figure franchise. Joe's mythology expanded exponentially with a long run in comics and 80's animation as well.

The Baroness is a master spy for the Cobra organization. She makes and breaks alliances quickly, but one thing is for certain, she's the declared enemy of the G.I. Joe team!

Miller traded in her blonde locks for brunette and prepared for the militaristic movie with four months of weight training and boxing sessions and lessons in firing live ammunition, gaining five pounds of muscle. Her character plays partner to Destro (Christopher Eccleston).

Rachel Nichols as Shana (Scarlett) O'Hara in <em>G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Rachel Nichols

...as Shana (Scarlett) O'Hara in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Hollywood has always had a seedy side, taking advantage of sexy, young starlets. True to form, Nichols's first gig landed her in the middle of an orgy on an episode of Sex and the City. Soon she got work in B-horror movies and even landed the lead in the failed TV series The Inside, playing a Silence of the Lambs-esque FBI agent.

But most of us came to know Nichols from another more popular special ops TV series, Alias, where she seemingly was being groomed for a lead role, possibly taking over for Jennifer Garner (Sydney Bristow) who was rumored to be leaving the series. Unfortunately, it all ended before she rose to stardom. So, we are happy to see Nichols now in another major movie where she can shine as a member of team G.I. Joe.

As Scarlett, she is an expert at getting information on the enemy and fluent in dozens of languages. On the battlefield, she's an expert, too, using her high-tech crossbow and martial arts moves, she can take down any number of Cobra troops!

Karolina Kurkova

...as Cover Girl in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

This sexy Czechoslovakian, a Victoria's Secret supermodel, has traded in her fluffy angel wings for an M-16. Now, she's strutting her stuff as Courtney A. Kreiger, a.k.a. Cover Girl.

This is only Kurkova's second big-screen endeavor, and it's probably a bit part, so don't expect to leer after her for too long.

Her character shouldn't be a big stretch for the ex-model. In G.I. Joe mythology, Cover Girl was a highly successful fashion model from Peoria, Illinois, who graced the covers of countless magazines but found the world of modeling unfulfilling and joined the Army to seek out new challenges in life -- particularly distinctly unfeminine ordeals -- in order to prove that she was not just a pretty face.

It is rumored that Kurkova will be playing General Hawk's assistant. Let's hope if she's given any speaking parts, she can sound American.

Kate Beckinsale as Carrie Stetko in Whiteout

Kate Beckinsale

...as Carrie Stetko in Whiteout

Ever since Kate Beckinsale slipped into skin tight leather as the vampire vixen in Underworld, we've grown to appreciate her talents. And while it doesn't look like we'll get to see much under the artic parka she'll be wearing in Whiteout -- an Antarctic murder mystery -- we can still hope for a scene where she needs to keep some hypothermic dude alive by sharing body heat.

Whiteout is an interesting tale that came from a graphic novel by Greg Rucka. After two years stationed at Antarctica's South Pole research base, lone U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Beckinsale) is as anxious as anyone to be going home. She's turned in her resignation and is counting the hours and minutes to the last plane out. But three days before departure, a body turns up on the ice and Carrie is immediately thrust into Antarctica's first murder investigation. As the death toll mounts, the mystery deepens with shifting loyalties, deadly whiteouts, and a relentless killer who will stop at nothing to protect a secret buried for more than 60 years. Now with everyone around her packing up and getting out, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into six months of darkness and she is stranded with the killer on a land where nothing comes in and no one gets out.

This chilly thriller was supposed to come out September of last year, but has been pushed back a whole year. While that isn't a good omen for any movie, we can bet that Beckinsale will draw plenty of guys into theaters. So look for her to heat up the box office late in 2009.

Lyndsy Fonseca

...as Katie Deauxma in Kick-Ass

Fonseca is an up-and-coming cutie and the love interest in the little known, yet highly anticipated, comic book movie Kick-Ass.

Coming later in the year, Kick-Ass is about an average youth, Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), living in the real world, who is inspired by comic books to put on a costume and fight crime without any skills or super powers. After getting his "ass kicked" time and again, he has one of his more successful exploits put on YouTube, where the video inspires other individuals to dress up and join his cause.

Fonseca plays Lizewski's crush, Katie Deauxma. The relationship should be an interesting portrayal -- Katie mistakes Dave as a homosexual and takes him as her best gay friend.

While young, Fonseca has been padding her resume with roles on the soap The Young and the Restless and in Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, and HBO's Big Love.
