Breaking Dawn: Will the Movie Beat the Book?

After Robert Pattinson’s announcement that Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s ridiculously popular Twilight Saga, will hit the big screen, we got to thinking: Will it make a good movie? And more important, will it turn out better than the book?

Breaking Dawn is very different from the first three novels in the series (Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse) and saw numerous mixed reviews during its release week. The millions-strong fan base was divided — everyone either loved it or hated it.

We’ve come up with 10 ways the movie could either rake in major box-office bucks or epically fail in a way not seen since Speed Racer dropped off the face of the planet. Even Pattinson might not be enough to save this one.

1. Bella and Edward's Wedding

Bella and Edward's WeddingThe wedding and first 100 pages of Breaking Dawn is, without a doubt, the most entertaining part of the book. It’s like old style Twilight, with every character acting as they should (except for Edward and the garter ... weird much?), and the ever-present Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle. Unfortunately, the most anticipated event since the Millennium is over all too quickly and things start to get worse as soon as our vampire and his bride reach their honeymoon destination, the Isle Esme. When Breaking Dawn is finally made into a movie, more emphasis should be put into the wedding: It’s the last time a lot of fans felt like they were reading The Twilight Saga and not some dodgy fan-fic found on the Internet.

2. The "Sex" Scenes

The Sex Scenes

Yep, you read that right. Bella and Edward finally get it on, in what can only be described as the most absent sex scene written since the 1900s. The act itself is merely implied, with the only proof it happened some broken headboards and bitten pillows. Oh, and a very bruised Bella. How they’ll portray this in the movie is anyone’s guess, and no doubt complaints of abuse and domestic violence are a big fear of everyone involved with the movie. If it stays rated PG-13 like its predecessors, ardent fans of Bella and Edward can kiss goodbye to their much adored night of passion. Sorry kids, it’s still implication only.

3. Jacob's Third of the Book

Jacob's Third of the Book

Werewolf Jacob takes center stage for a third of the book in what is arguably the best section of the entire 800-page tome. He’s funny, realistic, and probably the only one in the book to actually stay in character. If you were a member of Team Edward before, I guarantee you’ll rethink your loyalty after reading Part 2. The young Jacob Black is seriously that endearing, redeeming what is an otherwise tiresome read. Look for Taylor Lautner to take center stage on the movie posters — he’ll be carrying this one solo.

4. Renesmee's Birth

Renesmee's Birth

Normal births are painful, right? They hurt, they’re messy, and yet some women have them time and time again. Stephenie Meyer takes birthing to the next level in Breaking Dawn by having a giant baby literally crack its way out of mommy dearest. Bella’s spine breaks, leaving her writhing around like a beetle stuck on its back. Edward swoops in to the rescue and rips the baby out of Bella’s uterus with his bare-yet-sharp vampire teeth, then proceeds to turn his beloved into a vampire in order to save her fragile human life. PG-13? Uhh ... no, not so much.

5. Renesmee Carlie Cullen

Renesmee Carlie Cullen

Ignore the name for now, I’ll get to that soon enough. The idea that Bella and Edward could have a half-vampire, half-human baby is absurd, but to actually follow through on that idea is not only ridiculous but unnecessary. It turned Bella into a crazy, Rosalie-dependent robot and made Edward almost non-existent (more on that later). Renesmee is an annoying character and one that I have no desire to see immortalized on a DVD disc. Her accelerated growth and intelligence could prove to be quite a problem for casting agents, not to mention the poor director who has to work with a small child. Then there’s the topic of her name: Renesmee Carlie Cullen, a mishmash of Bella and Edward’s mothers’ (Renee and Esme) and fathers’ (Charlie and Carlisle) names. Eurgh.

6. A Major Lack of Edward

A Major Lack of Edward

We all know that Edward and Robert Pattinson are the driving forces behind this franchise, so what would happen if he ceased to exist for most of the fourth film? You’d have a problem, that’s for sure. In Breaking Dawn Edward is all but forgotten after the first 100 pages or so, and basically just mopes and moans whenever he pops up during the rest of the book. He’s a shadow of his former, chivalrous self and hardly utters a loving word to the girl he’s been waiting an eternity for. Summit would have to change this for the movie or Robert Pattinson may find himself strangely redundant. It’s no fun playing a vampire who’s lost his bite.

7. An Influx of Utterly Pointless Characters

An Influx of Utterly Pointless Characters

Many new vampires get introduced during the latter part of Breaking Dawn. Unfortunately, though, none of them really do much of anything. Yes, they can be pretty entertaining at times, but they’re in no way crucial to the story development. If casting execs can only choose a handful of new characters to cast, my vote would go to Garrett, Kate, Peter, Charlotte, and Alistair. The others (yes, there are plenty more) are barely worth mentioning and should only be cast if Summit suddenly find itself with more cash, and time, than it needs.

8. The Absence of Action

The Absence of Action

Hardly anyone dies in Breaking Dawn. Come to think of it, hardly anyone fights or even breaks a sweat. The vampire Irina is the only fatality and, seeing as we’re only introduced to her in this book, no one really cares about her anyway. Meyer botched things up when it came to killing her characters, all of whom just live happily ever after. There’s no epic battle like in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In fact, there isn’t a sharpened fang in sight. It’s simple: Movies need action or the audience gets bored. It looks like the screenwriter, Melissa Rosenberg, will have to do what she’s done with New Moon and tweak some scenes here and there in order to keep the fans awake.

9. Superfluous Plot Points that Go Nowhere

Superfluous Plot Points That Go Nowhere

Bella’s power and J. Jenks. Both of these story developments are emphasized as important and crucial to the plot, yet neither really go anywhere. Yes, Bella saves everyone with her convenient shield that not even the most powerful of vampires can break, but it still wasn’t the revelation it should have been. If this is the reason that Edward can’t read Bella’s mind, I think I’d have preferred not knowing and making my own explanation — I’m sure it would have been better than a Lily Potter-esque love shield. The movie script will need to be edited better than the book or it’ll end up as an 8-hour timesink.

10. A Vampire War that’s Won by ... Talking?

A Vampire War That's Won by... Talking?

When was the last time you saw bloodthirsty vampires back down because some friendlier vampires asked them to? Never, of course. That’s just not how it works in the world of the undead. They fight, they kill, then they go and toast to their night. They don’t stand around talking for half an hour before deciding they have better things to do. It’s something that can almost be overlooked in a book, but in a movie? No way. Something has to happen to keep the audience entertained, and a friendly chat ain’t going to cut it.

Let us know your thoughts on the Breaking Dawn movie by leaving a comment below. Do you think it could prove to be the Summit’s biggest hit? Or is it more likely to fade away faster than Robert Pattinson’s hair color? Either way, it’ll be an interesting one to watch.

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO ALL OF IT.. PROBLEM IS THE 8 YR OLD ARE SCREEWING THE THING UP FOR THE ABOVE 17 CROWD.. THERE SHOULD BE A ALTERNATE UNRATED VERSION FOR THE OLDER AUDIENCE, OR PARENTS NEED TO TEACH KIDS WHERE BABIES COME FROM EARLY.. I am looking forward to Breaking Dawn (OK, the rest of them). Its gong to be interesting to see how they do this book. I like Breaking Dawn because you finally see Edward through Jacob's eyes and that help you understand Edward a little more. I hope that Stephanie will complete her "Midnight Sun" and yes I know about the leak but I can't force myself to read it. I don't want to taste Edward Cullen I want to devour him, basically the leak wouldn't fill my desire to know Edward. I'll watch Breaking Dawn no matter what because I am a huge fan of the whole saga. Thank you Stephanie Meyer for sharing them with us.

First of all whoever wrote this needs to seriously get over themselves! Personally I liked Breaking Dawn and had no problems with how it turned out. Stephenie Meyer gave everyone their happy ending for eternity (Whats cooler than that). And for those who don't get the end, and why there wasn't a battle just look at the cover. Its because after all of that time with everyone else protecting Bella, she finally saved the day. And no one got hurt except one person and to Bella that of course was an ultimate accomplishment. The story is about her being the one to finally save the day and would you really want to lose any of your core characters in a big battle like in HPDH< NO. Of course that deals with a different type of evil where as here that isn't quite the case. So people should quit knocking this book because Stephenie wrote exactly the book she wanted and its HER story to write so people should try to respect that and resist the urge to act as the pompous selfish ingrates that so easily come out just because it didn't go YOUR was write your own story then.

OK, so if we are talking about writing, in order to write an effective article on the twilight saga being successfully transformed onto the screen, shouldn't the writer of the article need to at least like the books in the first place? Why would Twilight fans want to read something written by someone that doesn't enjoy the series? And furthermore, why would a non-twilight fan want to read an article about something in which they couldn't care less being translated into other medias? Congratulations, Jenny Davies, you just made yourself completely irrelevant.

Ok, the article has some good points. But "Breaking Dawn" has to be made just right. That means having the right amount of actions scenes (meaning the script will definitely change), and also the intimate scenes too. Letz be real, everyone wants to see some "action", and I'm not talking about violence. This movie is stuck in between being committed to the book due to the fans and also pleasing the illiterate people who haven't read the book at all. I absolutely love the books and I hope the rest of this saga goes well for the movies cause I would love to actually see it acted out. But for now, since we know "New Moon" is going to be awesome, let's try to make it through "Eclipse" successfully.

Okay i totally disagree with this article.... The book was amazing. As for changing the script NO. To me and many others i have talked to that was the only disappointment with the Twilight movie. As for the pg 13 thing, many of the readers of twilight are of age where parents allow them to watch movies even rated R. I just think that if the book is not meant for a pg 13 movie then they shouldn't make it one. Do the movie according to the book, you will be surprised as to how many people still watch it. One last thing..... just because there is not a fight or a lot of violence doesn't mean the movie will be boring. This is the book that ends the story, and the book had quit a lot of suspense if u ask me.

Half agree, half don't agree. I agree with the the movie part because you can't hirer a large amount of people who do not have a HUGE part in the book (like Edward and Bella), they should chose the most important characters out these and cast them in the movie and hirer some extras for the others. I do not agree with the book part because these characters add more depth to the novel.

By the way, I have not read Breaking Dawn yet. I am a new fan and I'm currently reading Eclipse but if you think my opinion on this doesn't count then you're wrong because I am basing my opinion on the article and your comments, this is what I feel about these topics as of right now when I read the book I might change my mind but I don't think I wil.

I almost completely agree with Beaniexx11. Let me just make a couple of points.:

"#1: I have to agree that this part of the book was the most entertaining. The reason behind that is because it was always anticipated since the beginning, and so I personally have been waiting for it to happen. The wedding, the island it is all perfect. And I hope that Summit will do their best at it."

This is the only thing I don't agree with you about. For me the best part of the book was when Bella gets turned into a vampire because throughout the whole series she always wanted it and in the first book there is no discussion of Edward and Bella getting married, however I do agree that the fans
always anticipated it (I know I did) but to "see" Bella finally turn into a vampire made me very happy because it means that Bella and Edward can spent the rest of their "lives" together.

"#2: These are Young Adult novels. And there are plenty of young kids reading them, so I think Stephenie did a great job at giving just enough detail. Now...the way this is going to portrayed in the movie...who knows. They could go all out with the sex scene, which I highly doubt. And Summit would be making a terrible mistake, just based on the fact that young people are going to watch this. So I think they'll meet somewhere in the middle where they'll show just enough but not go overboard into getting rated R. "

Exactly, they could, for example, have a make-out scene that is just a little bit more intense than the first one (the one in the first movie) that will show that they WILL BE having sex but doesn't actually show them having it or have any nudity and to back it up they can do the bruises on Bella (but not make her look like she got the s*** kicked out of her) and show the broken floorboards and add an akward scene with them the morning after.

"#4: Yes, it was gross and gruesome. I am not quite sure how Summit will do this one. Its a bit tough with sticking to the Young Adult audience, yet sticking to the book. And lets face it, this would be quite an awkward scene. So...I'm thinking no for this. They'll do it somehow but I expect them to change it so that we don't have to watch Edward biting his way through Bella. Maybe they'll just show Bella just before she started exploding blood and then they'll show a little bit of blood which won't hurt anybody and then Edward giving the shot of venom in her heart"

I think you may be right about when Bella turns into a vampire and how it's better. When I think about it since the beginning we all figured she'd become a vampire and the wedding was kinda off in the distance. So I agree with you there. I hope you enjoy Breaking Dawn :)

      07/07/09 01:57 AM
Sorry, I want to add something else to this part so that it will make more sense.

show the broken floorboards and add an akward scene with them the morning after. (Like having them pretty much thinking "Did we actually have sex?)
    • sillykitty 91

      07/07/09 01:52 AM
Another example, they COULD do the scene with Edward biting Bella but make it from a distance and make it a darker scene...that way you know what's going on but it's not all up in your face and extremely bloody.

"#8: Action, action, action. You've read this far, do you think it's action novel? It is a love story."

HELLO? In the first movie there isn't that much action until the last half-hour of the movie (or am I wrong?) As for New Moon it hasn't come out yet so I can't say anything about the action in that. Bottom Line? Like Beaniexx11 said IT IS A LOVE STORY!

"#9: Disagree, it helps save them in the end. How does that take 8 hours? "

Do I even have to say anything? She helped save them! Pointless? I don't think so...unless you would like it better if EVERYONE died.

People have their own opinions, whether you like them or not.

#1: I have to agree that this part of the book was the most entertaining. And Summit would be making a terrible mistake, just based on the fact that young people are going to watch this. So I think they'll meet somewhere in the middle where they'll show just enough but not go overboard into getting rated R.
#3: I do NOT hate Jacob. --This part, I did not see coming and frankly after Bella found out she was pregnant I didn't wanna read the whole lot of pages about Jake's perspective. He is one of the main characters. It was nice to see his POV abut after the first part I just wanted to know what happened to Bella and Edward.
#4: Yes, it was gross and gruesome. I am not quite sure how Summit will do this one. Its a bit tough with sticking to the Young Adult audience, yet sticking to the book. #5: She's an annoying character? Now I completely disagree with this point. You do realize this is a fictional novel right? And I don't understand how she is unnecessary. Bella gets pregnant, almost dies, and she has a miscarriage. What kind of ending would that be? I think Renesmee is one of the most interesting characters in the book in my opinion. Now, to get Renesmee onto the movie screen is definitely going to stur up some problems but I think with a good child actor and CGI it'll work. But it will definitely take a LOT of work.
#6: A major lack of Edward? Edward is in the book the whole way except in Jake's part of course. But he's there. It's not like they can just focus the whole thing on Edward, it's not like he was the one who was pregnant with a half vampire-half human child. Bella was, and the series told on her POV. Now like in New Moon they will most likely add a few Edward scenes here and there.
#7: The characters have background stories, but it's not like Stephenie could write a whole other hundred pages on each person. They may not be in the book a whole lot but they have a point of being there.
#8: Action, action, action. You've read this far, do you think it's action novel? It is a love story.
#9: Disagree, it helps save them in the end. How does that take 8 hours?
#10: Yes, talking was a bit odd for the solution to the fight. But earlier on they never really meant to fight. The people gathered more for the support to convince the Volturi that all these people have met Rensemee and know she is harmless and not a full vampire child. So the almost war was in a way not what I pictured and might if have been a little bit better (I'm not sure) if a little fight did break out, but it was more of...that gut feeling where you just know nothing is gonna go wrong.

All in all. Every book has its flaws, but I quite enjoyed and loved reading Breaking Dawn. Who doesn't like a happy ending once in a while?

****SORRY, I accidently hit the 'SUBMIT' button twice and my post was added twice, it was also cut-off... here is the rest of my response:

    7. Pointless Characters?!?!? In my opinion, not one of these characters is pointless… All are part of a support net that keeps the Cullen family in tact. They are friends and without them the ending of this story would have upset EVERYONE… Really, who would have liked to end the story with everyone dying? I find it only fair that those characters in the book are portrayed in the movie (even if the movie must be drawn out into two parts)… I feel it would be incomplete without them.

    8. If you think of Action as burning cars and war shoot-outs, yes, this movie is lacking. However the emotion plays a huge roll as well as scenes that carry this story through the end. The Wedding, The Honey Moon, Bella’s Pregnancy and Nessie’s Birth, Bellas transformation into a Vampire!!!, her learning, her training and fine tuning of her “gift”, and though slightly anti-climactic, the stand off in the base-ball field are all scenes that keep us interested the whole time. By the time ‘Breaking Dawn’ comes to theaters, the fan following will be so dedicated to the characters and the story no one will even care if there is an Harry Potter type battle. Look at the positive side, Not all squabbles must be solved by fighting and bloodshead, think of the lesson behind the story. What is so wrong with a happy ending for once?

    9. This Is the forth book in the series… the point is to wrap up the story, give the readers/watchers some closure, an ending… Edward and Bella’s new family is a wonderfull way to introduce a new addition/plot point as well as wrap up the story. To anyone who feels that the revelation of Bella’s gift, her ability to use it, and the impact it has had on her keeping other people out (and learning to use it to let Edward in) is not, in my opinion, a timesink. I have no clue where these ideas are coming from.

    10. My response to this is plainly stated in my response to the 8th point in this article.

I have to start out by saying that a few weeks ago I thought all of the Twilight hype was a bunch of over-stated, over exhausted pre-teen indulgence into a make-believe world... It wasn't until I was sitting in the movie theater watching previews for the new Transformers movie, when my interest finally peaked. I saw the preview for 'New Moon' and automatically felt myself drawn to understanding more about the characters and story line. I went home that night and watched 'Twilight'. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately picked up my dust collecting copy of 'New Moon'. (I had bought it months ago, but after speed-reading through a few pages, decided that it wasn't really my type of read... man, was I wrong!) I finished 'New Moon' in a matter of hours, something had begun... I soon found myself wrapped up in the strange world of Bella, and I couldn't wait to find out what happened!

Okay, now to my comments on this article... In only a matter of days I had completed reading the 'Twilight Saga'... I have to say that 'Breaking Dawn' was by far, my most favorite book of the series… and maybe even makes my top 10 favorites list. I disagree with almost every point outlined in this article.. I don’t think the author could have even read the book, and if so, they had an extremely biased opinion from the beginning. In response to the points mentioned above:

    1. Although I enjoyed the wedding and honeymoon of Bella and Edward, I don’t think that it was the most entertaining part of the book… It is a climatic event that everyone has been waiting for since the first ‘Twilight’ book was released, however after the stressful trip back home, the story only gets stronger.

    2. I understand why the sex-scenes must be kept pg-13, as in the book… As an adult, I would Personally like to see these scenes portrayed as closely to the book as possible (maybe the DVD can have these scenes in the special features menu, so as not to upset any kiddies or parents.)

    3. I do not agree that Jacob’s third of the book is the best section of this story… I was kind of irritated that we were reading through his perspective for so long. I enjoyed the insight to his character, as well as the pack but I kept thinking to myself, ‘okay, okay I get it, now can we get back to Bella and this crazy pregnancy she is dealing with?’

    4. And 5. Renesmee’s Birth scene will probably be gory and gruesome… There were a few times while reading when I thought to myself, ‘How Gross!’ This will be difficult to portray and not involve the gory, bloody scenes that we have all seen in gruesome horror movies… It really is too bad that these are ‘Young Adult’ novels, because there is so much potential for a truly great movie.
Renesmee quickly became one of my absolute FAVORITE characters. Nearly everything stated in this article referring to Nessie is the complete opposite of my opinion. (and actually kind of ticks me off a bit). I do not think that Bella is a crazy, Nessie dependent robot, or that Edward becomes non-existant… The ideas put forth in this section seem completely ludicrous to me. The only issue I have with her name is the fact that I cannot figure out how to pronounce it correctly. I think the idea behind it is unique and adorable. call me sentimental…

    6. I completely disagree with the statement that there is a major lack of Edward (I’m afraid that ‘New Moon’ will have the lack) I do not see him moping or moaning… I don’t think the author of this article actually read the book… I cannot understand the reasoning behind this claim.

    7. Pointless Characters?!?!? In my opinion, not one of these characters is pointless… All are part of a support net that keeps the Cullen family in tact. They are friends and without them the ending of this story would have upset EVERYONE… Really, who would have liked to end the story with everyone dying? I find it only fair that those characters in the book are portrayed in t

    2. I understand why the sex-scenes must be kept pg-13, as in the book… As an adult, I would Personally like to see these scenes portrayed as closely to the book as possible (maybe the DVD can have these scenes in the special features menu, so as not to upset any kiddies or parents.)

ok..so i only have a few things to say about this article...first thing is i think you need to re-read the book because obviously you missed something! now, to pull the article apart. #1 THE WEDDING-I agree that this is one of my favorite parts of the book and i cried when Jacob came back for the wedding. #2 THE SEX SCENES-I don't feel that there was anything wrong with the way Stephenie left them out. You have to remember that there are 13 year olds reading these books and that would really suck if they couldn't read this last book because Steph wanted them to get a little intimate. I think she did a great job at going around it #3 JACOB'S A THIRD OF THE BOOK-I agree there is a lot of Jacob in this book. But, you have to look at the new role he is taking. He goes from being Bella's best friend to someone she loves and then imprints with Renesme, you know he is having some crazy feelings and emotions goin on. However, I completely disagree that he carries the book. Yes I want him to be happy and glad to know how he is feeling but his part of the book is still revolving around Bella (PS SHE is who the whole thing is REALLY about, not Edward, Jacob, or even Renesme!) #4

All of the characters had some part in the plot of the fight. If we're taking out pointless characters then we might as well have not had Charlie or Renee. #8 NO ACTION-Again it's more of a love story than an action book! #9 PLOTS THAT GO NOWHERE-think about what you're saying because everything in the book goes somewhere. Just because she didn't have to send Jacob and Renesme away in the end doesn't mean that it wasn't important, it helped us know a little bit about Alice (whom is one of my fav characters and I cried when she left) Also, if it wasn't for Bella's power then there wouldn't have been a war either b/c Alec and Jane would have immobilized them before it could begin. #10 WAR WON WITH TALKING-All I have to say here is that if you didn't want a happy ending with Bella, Edward and everyone else have a happily ever after then you obviously are not as big of a Twilight fan as you claim you are.

Which I would like to end with. Any of us hard core Twilight fans found that there was importance to the book and if you can't see that then you aren't as hard core as you claim to be. PS I read all four books in 5 days and have read them a total fo 3 times each so I think I know what I'm talking about.

I agree with the author of this article about both the problems with the book and the problems with making the book into a movie. To say that Breaking Dawn was my least favorite of the four books is and extreme understatement. I had to force myself to finish the book because I kept thinking "the good parts" were just ahead. The good parts never arrived and I was extremely disappointed. For those of you who say Bella is the star, I can guarantee that readership, as well as movie viewership, would go down significantly if there were no Edward. I for one do not want to sit in a theatre watching Kristen Stewart. I saw the movie because of Robert Pattinson. The fourth book was sloppy and did not stay true to the characters. I fervently hope that the crew putting together the Breaking Dawn movie and can make some serious improvements!!!.

I agree with you that Rob Pattinson got me to watch the movie but I think think that they should try to stick with the book as much as possible. I was very disappointed when they changed Twilight so much and I hope they didn't screw New Moon up to much either.

i think you are misinterpreting what i was saying. i said "Bella" is the star, Pattinson is the draw. what i meant by that is Robert Pattinson (not Edward Cullen, difference) is the reason people's butts will be in the seats (well most butts anyway) come TTS:BD, and Bellla Swan (not Kristen Stewart, difference) is the star because these books are the story of Bella Swan, not Edward Cullen.

I thought breaking Dawn was the best book of the twilight saga, fyi I'm not 13! I don't think it's possible for a movie to be as good as the book, they can't add in every detail and all the thoughts, also you have to use your imagination while reading and it's never gonna be how everyone pictures it. Don't get me wrong I think the movie will be great really hoping they turn it into 2 parts to get capture as much as possible. I'm still all the way team Edward in this book Jacob was hilarious, but he's her best friend like a brother to her and Edward shows how much he cars about Bella, Any loving husband would be depressed if his wife was dying, what they should just change it

Calmdown, it's a book. there's no need to call the author a ***** for voicing the flaws in a FAR from flawless book And don't say "Why do u hate it? Did u even read it? You're not a real fan!" I'm the resident twilight expert in my bookstore, went to a breaking dawn party, won the trivia contest, stayed up until 7 AM finishing the book(which was physically painful)I love Stephenie Meyer's first three books, and fell in love with the series and later the movie and it's actors, but breaking dawn was a letdown. The entire plot was noncontinuous and unfortunately, she lost the characters that she had built up in three books. So in response to your opinion on someone elses opinion:1I loved the wedding scene and all that came before it. The characters were true, the story was entertaining; classic twilight2The first three built up this great sexual tension between Bella and Edward, and while leaving stuff to the imagination is good, leaving a "fade to black" is no fun 3Sure, jacob is a "tell it as it is" character who's fun to listen to...in moderation 4I remember reading the birth scene thinking: wtf are they gonna do to make this suitable for people to see? 5there is so much wrong with renesmee; but i can tell you feel strongly about the issue. i wont say anymore 6Robert pattinson can pull of tortured/depressed and still look sexy, but using new moon as an example for how twilight works without edward isnt logical; edward left in new moon, now hes a placeholder/loveofherlife? that makes no sense 7there were so many characters w/o plot ties she had to put in index in.that proves the point 8the absence of action didn't irritate me, it was the obnoxious build up that lead to ABSOLUTELY NOTHING 9Come on, J Jenks went nowhere. so she got some passports so she could send her daughter off, that's not a plot, that's a sentence10(see#8). Don't call me a fake fan for not liking breaking dawn, don't comment negatively for posting my opinion.Listen to other people before you judge.

OKAY LISTEN IM VERY PISSED OF ABOUT THIS ARTICLE THE FIRST FEW DIDNT BOTHER ME PERSONALLY I HATED HOW THEY CHANGED TWILIGHT AND IM OPING THEY DONT DO TOO MUCH DAMAGE TO NEW MOON IF THEY ADD MORE VIOLENCE THATS POINT LESS BECAUSE AS FAS AND IF YOU WERE ONE YOUD UNDERSTAND WE COULDNT PUT BREAKING DAWN DOWN SO OBVIOUSLY WE LIKED IT THE WAY IT WAS SO WHY WOULD WE WANT THEM TO MAKE A 2 HOUR MOVIE ABOUT THE WEDDING SEX AND A WAR! AND THERE IS ALOT MORE TO BREAKING DAWN THATN THAT IF THATS WHAT YOUR THINKING I REALLY DONT APPRECIATED HOW YOU MINDLESSLY AND IGNORANTLY ATTACKED BREAKING DAWN AND I DONT THINK THAT STEPHANIE MEYER WOULD EITHER SINCE SHE HAS SOLD BILLIONS OF BOOKS AND MOST OF THE WORLD IS SOME WHAT OBSESSED WITH HER GENIUS NOVELS SO HERE IS MY OPINION ON YOUR 10: #1- i personally think that the wedding was spectacular and i cried when jacob blew up and was completely heartbroken i dont think any things wrong with it plus why in the world would we think that the rest of breaking dawn was bad you just have horrible judgement. #2- the "sex" scenes i would understand why some of the older crowds including myself would like them to let there imaginations run wild but you also have to put others things into perspective like how we should stay as close to the book as possible and how the younger crowd who reads the books like 12 year olds cant see the rated-R movies and should keep it pg-13. #3- i absolutly love jacob and dont have much negativity to spread on this point EXCEPT i think stephanie defiantly kept everyone in character as much as possiable all of the changes that happen im positive that there personalisties changed on purpose. #4- okay in the book it is a bit grafic but surly they can turn it down the same way they turned up the action in twilight even thought this series isnt about action. #5- THERE IS NOTHING FUCKING WRONG WITH RENESMEE OR HER NAME! #6- WHO CARES okay stephanie is a professional author and she has amazing talent no one i know has ever

I think this whole discussion just reinforces that Breaking Dawn is the most divisive book in the series. It was pretty gutsy of the writer to air her concerns so openly.
Only someone who is a fan of the Twilight series would make themselves so open for the kind of personal attacks that have been lobbed at her.

welll this made me really angry because the book was amazing and just so everyone knows the scripts have already been written, so its not going to change, they already ahve the directors which will be directing breaking dawn so, stop moaning about the book and what the movie will turn out to be. twilight was an amazing movie and they changed that about and it will be the same as new moon when it comes out. they movies where big hits and its not only that there are millions of fans out there that can wait to see how they portray all these scens cos it will be interesting to see how the directors will do it
