5 Time Traveler's Wife Scenes that Need To Make It Into the Movie

Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler’s Wife follows the complex love story between Clare Abshire and her time-traveling soul mate, Henry DeTamble. Talk about being in love with a complicated man — it doesn't get much dicier than trying to build a life with someone who's always involuntarily disappearing to another place and time. You could say that it makes falling in love with a vampire, such as Twilight's Edward Cullen, seem like a pretty easy path to romance.

That having been said, it turns out that there's a big overlap in the fanbase between the two books — something we discovered when we went seeking fan input about what book scenes they consider crucial for the movie adaptation. Nicky from HisGoldenEyes.com, Jenny from BellaAndEdward.com, and fans from the TwilightMoms.com forums all pitched in to create this list of top five scenes.

We've tried to keep the spoilers to a minimum.

1. Henry time travels for the first time and meets himself

Nicky: Not only would this scene give us some more background on the lead, but it would be interesting to see Henry as a little boy.

Onyx on Twilight Moms: I absolutely loved how the two of them were together.

2. The first time Henry meets Clare

Jenny: Henry doesn't know Clare, but she knows him and must remind him of their past. It'll definitely get the audience interested!

Gypsy Wings on Twilight Moms: I would also like the first time she meets him in the present and she starts to explain their past together and how they know each other.

3. When Henry meets his daughter for the first time

Jenny: There's a poignancy about it, especially with the information coming from a daughter he is yet to meet in the real world.

Jerseyette on Twilight Moms: I think she was on a class trip and she saw him, and they snuck off to talk together. That was so touching.

4. Clare and Henry's Wedding

Nicky: Most weddings are hectic enough as it is without having a disappearing groom. This is where all of the confusing paradoxes really come into play.

Onyx on Twilight Moms: It made their love seem so much more real to me. She married him knowing what/who he could become and then spent the subsequent years watching him live up to that potential.

5. The ending (but we won't give it away)

Jenny: Rachel McAdams is a master of emotional scenes, and I can't wait to see how she deals with this one.

Nicky: This particular scene is a must, in regards to the movie. It reminds us of how strong their love. So strong, in fact, that it can even conquer the passage of time.

The Twilight Moms also had some overall hopes for the movie. Bluestem said, "I also really hope that Eric Bana’s role is written to convey the survivor mentality that Henry had to cultivate." Miandbob added, "If the movie is not handled right, it could come across as just a fantasy romance or worse, be too hard to follow. I have no doubt that Eric and Rachel can portray Henry and Clare, I just have doubts that the love story that’s told will be the same."

Well, very soon we'll all know for sure.
