ReelzChannel's Favorite Movie Moments 2008
What is your favorite movie moment of 2008? Let us know.

Iron Man

THE MOMENT:  As a callous weapons manufacturer-turned-crusading superhero, Robert Downey Jr. takes to the sky as Iron Man -- and thanks to a genuinely charismatic performance by the actor, the movie takes flight along with him.

WHY WE LOVE IT:  Downey Jr.'s title role in "Iron Man" gives a well-respected actor the chance to show off his chops in a summer blockbuster -- and in turn, provides the comic book movie genre with a healthy dose of respectability.

WHAT IT MEANS:  More bold casting choices in big-budget films. If a reformed wild child like Robert Downey Jr. can top-line a comic book movie, then the sky's the limit. Here's hoping somebody can convince movie execs to cast Gary Busey as "The Mighty Thor".

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

THE MOMENT:  A hapless guy (Jason Segel) finds himself both emotionally and literally naked in front of his girlfriend as she dumps him.

WHY WE LOVE IT:  Segel's fearlessness about letting it all hang out, combined with moviemakers willing to go the extra yard -- or at least the extra inch -- makes for one of the most memorable break-ups in romantic comedy history.

WHAT IT MEANS:  More male nudity in mainstream movies. If you thought the skin on display in Borat and Walk Hard was surprising, be prepared for even more guys to go "full Monty."

88 Minutes

THE MOMENT:  Al Pacino's harried hairdo is also 88 -- 1988, that is. His bizarre, blow-dried-in-a-wind-tunnel coif actually upstages the actor himself -- no small feat.

WHY WE LOVE IT:  Gives the poorly-reviewed movie's title a whole new meaning: it must have taken Al Pacino's hairstylist at least 88 minutes to fashion his feathered hair helmet.

WHAT IT MEANS:  Thanks to chlorofluorocarbon emissions from aerosol hair products, median temperature of planet will rise by approximately four degrees every time Pacino -- with his Aquanet-infused 'do -- accepts new movie role.

Cloverfield

THE MOMENT:  Cloverfield monster uses Statue of Liberty's head as a bowling ball.

WHY WE LOVE IT:  Sure, destruction of beloved monuments is the hallmark of any good monster movie, but beheading The Statue of Liberty upped the ante.

WHAT IT MEANS:  More decapitated landmarks. Although you have to wonder how they're gonna top themselves in the sequel. Shave Teddy Roosevelt's moustache off Mount Rushmore?
