Not being a tweener myself, I didn't have the highest of hopes when embarking on this literary journey, although I will admit it is certainly a book that makes many a woman's heart go pitter-pat. Not only did the woman at the bookstore register gush over it as I was buying it, but I also started receiving messages from random GoodReads users telling me how much I would love it.

Well, while I can't say I 'love it,' per se, I can say that it is definitely better than I expected. Although I will also say I'm half way through and so far virtually nothing has happened. We've barely even realized that Edward is a vampire and the werewolves have only been hinted at. Mostly, it's a lot of sitting in cars, waiting for each other after class, longing looks and not touching.

Wow, now that I think of it, that sounds quite a lot like my own high school experience. Rich Ripley, wherever you are, are you a vampire?

Little of the plot is revealed in the two-minute clip, save for a few tidbits about a kidnapping plot involving Jabba the Hutt's son. Which means, of course, that Jabba found a way to procreate -- an unsettling fact that leaves all of us to wonder just how something like that could possibly have occurred. Let's hope that Clone Wars' story, which bridges the gap between episodes II and III of the Star Wars saga, leaves out that unpleasant detail.

The new clip showcases Star Wars: The Clone Wars' interesting animation style and abundance of new characters -- both of which are likely to spur furious speculation in the fanboy community. Are the characters too "video game" in appearance? And just who exactly are all of those folks wielding red lightsabres? New Sith recruits? Check out the Clone Wars trailer over at Yahoo Movies and let us know what you think.

This weekend Iron Man looks to be the flick of choice once again. Fans who didn't check it out last week will likely pick it over Speed Racer and some may even choose a second viewing of the Marvel superhero flick over a first viewing of the kiddie racing pic.

Early box office analysis has Iron Man predicted to bring in just under $50 million this weekend while Racer is looking at a take in the low $30's. We'll have the full report on Monday.

It stars a mustachioed Kevin James (The King of Queens, Hitch) as an overzealous shopping mall security guard that must defend his territory when it's taken over by a gang of X-game-y criminals, and from what we saw, it looks like it is going to be pretty funny.

The two acting unions -- the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Radio and Television Artists (AFTRA) are set to renegotiate their own contracts, and so far things are not going well. Talks broke off between producers and SAG on Tuesday over -- what else -- DVDs and online content. AFTRA, which is negotiating separately from SAG, went to the table yesterday.

The SAG/AFTRA contracts are set to expire on June 30.

The cast includes George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand. Malkovich is a CIA agent who pens his memoirs and then accidentally leaves the disc containing the files at a gym. Gym workers Linda (McDormand) and Chad (Pitt) then hatch a hairbrained scheme to sell the file.

We've got the first pics from Burn After Reading today which feature Pitt sporting a hairdo reminiscent of Vanilla Ice and Malkovich wearing a bathrobe and wielding a small axe. Looks like the Coens are at their finest once again!

Twilight

The sardonic star of this year's breakout hit, Juno, is set to play Charlotte Bronte's famous governess entrapped in a love triangle in an adaptation by screenwriter Moira Buffini. Eyre will be a true test of Page's acting talents as, unlike Juno, this is one character that is light on the snark factor.

Captain America, Thor and Avengers projects have been in the planning stages for quite some time, but today Marvel offered release dates for all three movies as well as an Iron Man sequel.

2009 may be quite exciting for Marvel fans, but 2010 and 2011 will be almost too much to handle. It all starts on April 30, 2010 with Iron Man 2 followed just over a month later with Thor on June 6, 2010. The following year the tentatively-titled The First Avenger: Captain America will hit screens on May 6, 2011 followed a few months later with the full-fledged Avengers movie in July of 2011.

And the heads of comic fans around the world will now simultaneously explode...

Among movies not named Iron Man, Patrick Dempsey's romantic comedy Made of Honor reigned supreme, earning $15.5 million in its opening weekend. Tina Fey's surrogate mother comedy Baby Mama grabbed the third spot with a $10.3 million take, followed by Forgetting Sarah Marshall at $6.1 million. Rounding out the top five was Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, which earned $6 million in its second week in release.

TV's Entertainment Tonight reported yesterday that Paramount Pictures (Iron Man's distributor) CEO Brad Grey has already targeted a May 2010 release date for Iron Man 2, so long as Marvel's much-anticipated comic book flick performs "as well as expected," and Robert Downey Jr.'s trainer revealed to Iesb.net that the Iron Man star is scheduled to begin working out for the follow-up as early as next week.

Universal is also rolling out its own competing version of the Springfield story, with Kristin Chenoweth (The Pink Panther, Bewitched) set to star.

Springfield was a pop icon who rose to fame during the '60s British invasion with a rocky personal life filled with substance abuse, mental illness, and bisexuality. She was also, evidently, terrific movie fodder.

The actor confirmed the role when he told Brit movie mag Empire that he "loved playing Gandalf" and "It's not a role you turn down." He went on to say that he was offered the part in the very room where Peter Jackson offered him the part for the first trilogy.

The Hobbit will be based on the original Tolkien book and is slated for release in 2010. The second Hobbit movie will be an original story covering the period between the Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
