Daniel Sadek, executive producer of the car-porn flick Redline, financed the project entirely out of his own pocket, to the tune of a reported $55 million.
According L.A. Times writer John Horn, Sadek conceived of the film as a vehicle (ha!) for then-fiancé Nadia Bjorlin, an aspiring actress who couldn't snag a movie role:
"I saw what she had to go through — driving every day from Newport to Los Angeles, and I never saw her get anything. I watched her struggle. And I wanted people to see her talent."
I realize that you can't put a price on love, but $55 million seems like a lot to spend on a fiance -- even one imported from Sweden.
Redline made headlines recently when one of its stars, alleged "comedian" Eddie Griffin, totalled a $1.5 million Ferrari Enzo during a promotional event, a crash many suspect was merely a staged publicity stunt.
