Rarely does it make news when an actor is merely offered a role, but when said role is for the lead in a big screen adaptation of an iconic TV series, ears perk up. Yesterday EW.com reported that America's favorite bongo-playing apparel-phobe Matthew McConaughey has been approached to play Magnum P.I., the laid-back private investigator who spent much of the '80s solving crimes while cruising around Hawaii in his red Ferrari.
EW calls it "perfect casting" to have the Fool's Gold star assume the role first made famous by Tom Selleck, but we beg to differ. Is McConaughey even capable of growing chest hair? Because a bald-chested Magnum is an absolute deal breaker. I'll picket the premiere if that happens.
