Reports of major trims to the final cut of the Vin Diesel Movie Babylon A.D. have been widespread of late. The original cut of the movie was apparently more epic in nature coming in around 160 minutes. The new final theatrical cut has been trimmed some 70 minutes to bring it down to a more short attention span-friendly 90 minutes.
For Diesel, this must feel a bit like deja vu after similar cuts greatly altered the Pitch Black sequel Chronicles of Riddick. Let's hope this one receives a warmer reception at the box office.
Babylon A.D. is based on George Dantec's sci-fi novel Babylon Babies. It will be released August 29, 2008.
