Why are we suddenly having visions of Barack Obama and John McCain stiffly mugging their way through various late-night comedy bits we've witnessed over the past year? Because we just read on Chud.com that Judd Apatow has written a scene for Bruce Springsteen in his upcoming movie about the stand-up comedy world, Funny People. And while we have no idea if the Boss has the foreign policy expertise to run for president, we're pretty certain he possesses the complete lack of comic chops the job requires. Which makes us wonder -- can Apatow actually write a scene that's so inherently funny it's capable of transcending both Springsteen's natural force-field of blue-collar earnestness and Springsteen's inevitable, politician-like efforts to exude regular-guy jocularity if he agrees to do the scene? We can't wait to find out.
