Stephen Sommers is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct a new big-screen adaptation of everyone's favorite vine swinger, Tarzan.
The director, best known for his Mummy series, recently wrapped production on next summer's highly anticipated G.I. Joe. If all goes according to plan, Sommers would co-write the Tarzan script with G.I. Joe scribe Stuart Beattie.
The project has been in development at WB since 2003 with Guillermo Del Toro in talks to direct at one point.
Tarzan was last seen on the silver screen in 1984's Greystroke: The Legend of Tarzan.
