DC Comics' Captain Marvel project found a new home at Warner Bros. when they obtained the script by John August (Big Fish), and a commitment from director Peter Segal (Get Smart). Currently titled Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam rather than Captain Marvel, due to legal issues with Marvel Comics -- who have their own Captain Marvel -- the movie will follow teenager Billy Batson, who can turn into a superhero just by saying the word "Shazam!"
Shazam! should be hitting theaters just as soon as Segal can finish Get Smart 2 (due 2010) and another comedy, Liam McBain: International Tennis Star and Proper English Geezer, about a fictional '80s tennis star.
