Summit Entertainment announced a sequel to the massive hit Twilight a day after the movie opened (earning $35.7 million opening day will do that). No one seems more pleased than Twilight author Stephenie Meyer who said in the Summit press release: "I don't think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment. I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on NEW MOON."
With Twilight finishing the weekend by earning $70.6 million -- the 4th-biggest opening weekend all year -- who can blame her?
No announcement was made on the cast, director, or whether screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg will adapt the sequel, though Twilight star Robert Pattinson already mentioned to the Seattle Times that the New Moon script was "already done."
