Romancing the Stone
Fox announced it's remaking Romancing the Stone, the romantic comedy that made Michael Douglas, Danny Devito, and Kathleen Turner movie stars. No cast or director have been named, but Eagle Eye's Daniel McDermott is on board to write the screenplay.
Arthur
Warner Bros. is rebooting Arthur, this time with Russell Brand playing the over-served playboy. Considering Brand's past of boozing and debauchery, this should be a slam dunk. Will he remake Leaving Las Vegas next?
They Live
And finally, Universal's remake is a surprising choice -- They Live, John Carpenter's cult classic that starred Rowdy Roddy Piper as a man who discovers an alien conspiracy. Strike Entertainment, the production team behind Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead and the upcoming Creature from the Black Lagoon remake, is trying to acquire the rights. If successful, Strike will have to figure out how to top the 5-and-a-half-minute fight scene between Piper and Keith David. Good luck!
