• New Moon Casting News

  With director Chris Weitz now firmly in the director's chair, it may not be the only change that happens to the Twilight sequel New Moon. MTV reports that the role of Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner in Twilight, is up in the air after the Summit Entertainment press release omitted Lautner. Summit told MTV: "The casting decision in regards to the character Jacob Black has yet to be made."

  Instead of Lautner, MTV reports that Michael Copon (Scorpion King 2) is being considered for the role, while Ben Barnes (Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) is vying for the role of Aro, a mind-reading vampire, who plays a critical role in New Moon.

  Whoever plays these roles, Weitz will have to decide quickly. Shooting begins in twelve weeks. Check back here for more New Moon casting news.

  --Second: Aro should be an older actor.... i was thinking of... possibly.. the actor who plays Severus Snape in Harry Potter! (i think hes perfect for that role)!

  ok seriously the only issue with taylor is his height and i mean hello its a movie if they can make hobbits shorter then im sure they can work some movie magic and make taylor taller give him some special shoes whatever the fact is changing the cast of a well known movie is just plain stupid!!! i mean hello theres already a beginning to this the cast is set that would be like recasting the guy who played ron in harry potter you loose fans and no one wants to play keep up with whose playing who not to mention if they do it once they could do it again no one will want to go see the damn movies if theres someone new playing people in every movie. they should keep taylor cause short or not hes ALREADY jacob black.

    height is not the only issue. i admit its lame to recast a character but its different in this case because jacob grows and gets older and looks noticably different. taylor looks too young. it wouldnt be staying true to the book if he looks the same and looks like hes 16 yrs old. taylor was barely in the movie he was in it for like 5 seconds. taylor was fine for young jacob but we need an older and more physically matured jacob. its seriously time to get over your precious taylor lautner.

  Taylor is not big enough! even he does make himself fatter, it doesn't make a difference. Be REALISTIC!! If you're a TRUE TWILIGHT FAN you'll be siding with michael. I never liked Taylor. I mean SHARKBOY vs SCORPIAN KING!! who is most likely to win? I'm going for Michael even though i'll always be on team edward!!

  Dude why wud you replace taylor with him? Taylor has put on 19 pounds already and says hes gonna do atleast another 10 by shooting. That shows he is TRUELY determined to get the role of Jacob. Michael is 26 years old!! How is he supposed to play a 16 year old!? Jacob isnt supposed 2 age so if they were to do a Breaking Dawn movie by then hed be almost 30!!!!!!! HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO WORK FOR A 16 YEAR OLD!!!!!?????!!!!!! KEEP TAYLOR IN!!! HE IS THE JACOB BLACK!!!

    jacob isnt supposed to look like hes 16 in the other books anyways! hes supposed to look like hes about 25 genius! that is the whole point in recasting him

    DUDE!!!! why won't people accept that jacob is NOT fit for the part!! I personally do not favor taylor in this... and I think michael will be perfect for the role.

  If they are going to recast Taylor from being Jacob why dont they ask Steven Strait...he would be a perfect...Jacob...I really hope though that Taylor stays.

  My opinion, I think it would be a wise choice to replace Taylor with Michael or whoever they may choose. Don't hate on Michael because he got picked as a possible replacement. Michael may have been a cheerleader but, Taylor was sharkboy!!! whats the difference anyways they were both wearing tights LMAO. Remember Jacob is supposed to grow and change really fast when he phases into a werewolf and I don't think Taylor is right for this part in New Moon. Also, this is Stephanie's vision of Jacob Black!!! Think about it!

  How can they honestly replace Taylor Lautner, with Ugh!! Michael Copon.
  Everyone know's that Taylor Lautner, Is SO! Much HOTTER Than Michael.
  I honestly can say Stephinie Is going to get fans hating her, because they'll think it was her, who did this: UGH! If they change it I swear I'm going to find out where Chris Weitz, Lives. Let Taylor Stay!!!

  I say this is a wise decision. Taylor looked good for the younger version of Jacob, but we have to be realistic. The jacob in New Moon is seriously cut and a lot taller plus the whole point of staying true to the book is to be able to watch the characters change and develop as they do in the book and jacob goes through a drastic and dramatic physical change. After watching the episodes of One Tree Hill were Copon was in.. he definetly has appeal and can pull hansome and sexy jacob off for sure. Am surprised as for the casting for Aro, i always saw his as more "scary and creepy" looking. Only time will tell if the new character casting will work.

  Don't think I have seen a thing that Michael Copon was in. Of course I never watched "The Power Rangers". I suppose he is good looking enough, in fact he could pass for Taylor Lautner's older brother. Nevertheless, I still think Steven Strait would bring Jacob's brooding character to life. What about Brandon Routh (SUPERMAN RETURNS)for the part of Aro? Any suggestions for Jane?
