A casting rumor started by British tabloid The Sun, reporting that Eddie Murphy had been picked to play The Riddler in the next "Batman 3" has now been thoroughly debunked by the comedian's publicist.
Even though head honchos at Warner Bros. had recently let it be known that nothing about the project has yet begun, like a working script, it still hasn't stopped the Internet rumor mill from putting forth character and casting choices.
Many previously reputable news sources have begun picking up spurious spoilers of late, and some even knowingly proffering fakery themselves.
But finally, due to some actual investigative reporting at ABC has put to bed the Batman debate by asking Eddie Murphy's publicist for confirmation.
What's the final answer? "Not true."
