With his Terminator Salvation still months from opening, director McG already has another job. Variety reports that Disney has picked McG to direct their upcoming 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo, an origin story of Nemo as he builds his warship, the Nautilus. Likely, Disney hopes for Nemo to become a franchise, and McG, who will also direct and develop the next installment of the Terminator series after Nemo, is no stranger to franchises. Remember, this is the director of the Charlie's Angels movies. Just don't hold it against him.
Hopes are clearly high for Disney and Nemo. Last time 20,000 Leagues hit the screens in 1954, it won three Oscars.
Production is likely to start this year, from a script by Bill Marsilii (Deja Vu).
