Sony announced today that Swiss director Marc Forster (Monster's Ball, Stranger than Fiction) has been tapped to helm the next James Bond flick, currently known as Bond 22. Forster, who just recently completed production on The Kite Runner, was chosen from a list of candidates that reportedly included the likes of Tony Scott (Deja Vu), Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), and Alex Proyas (I, Robot).
Forster's hiring comes on the heels of last month's announcement that Casino Royale scribe Paul Haggis will be brought back to help write a follow-up. Haggis received much of the credit for helping revitalize the Bond franchise with his re-write of the Royale script.
Bond 22 is set to begin shooting in December at London's venerable Pinewood Studios, with Daniel Craig set to once again play the iconic British superspy.
