  • Drew Barrymore in the Running to Direct Third Twilight Movie Eclipse

Drew BarrymoreReportedly, Chris Weitz will not direct the third film in the Twilight series, Eclipse (he'll be in post-production with New Moon while the third flick shoots). So who will direct it? The answer might (okay, very likely will) surprise you.

Drew Barrymore is among a select group of directors Summit Entertainment is considering to helm the film. Barrymore has long been involved in movies as both an actress and a producer, but she just finished shooting her directorial debut, Whip It!, with Ellen Page. The roller derby girl movie doesn't hit theatres until October, so it will be a while until we get to see her handiwork behind the camera. Until then, we'll just have to work on forgiving her for He's Just Not That Into You and imagine how she might incorporate daisy chains into Eclipse.

Next Showing: Whip It! opens Oct. 30

I think Drew Barrymore would be an interesting choice to direct Eclipse. The fact that she's a woman means she would know what the female audience's expectations are for the film. It's obviously still up in the air right now, so let's just wait
