Christopher Guest has announced not one but two tours celebrating the 25th anniversary of This Is Spinal Tap. First, this April he and band mates Michael McKean and Harry Shearer will perform acoustic metal and folk songs for the Unwigged & Unplugged tour. If you hadn't guessed from the name, they'll be performing as themselves, sans heavy metal costume.
Then, later in the summer, they'll put on the wigs and crank it up to 11 for a couple of Spinal Tap gigs. Guest isn't saying where that will happen just yet, but it could be at some big summer music festivals, which would be pretty amazing. Coachella is mentioned as a possibility, but seeing as that's in mid-April, it seems a bit early.
The band has also been back in the studio recording some new songs. Guest next appears on the big screen in the Night at the Museum sequel, but we're more excited to see him team up with Ricky Gervais next year in Invention of Lying.
