Weeks ago, Chris Evans called the Fantastic Four franchise "done," but Evans is only half right. IESB reports that movie studio Fox is considering a reboot of the franchise, just two years removed from the second Fantastic Four movie. This means no Evans or the rest of the cast will be asked back. Fox is planning to have a "less bubble gum" version more like the highly successful Iron Man.
Seems a bit soon to plan a reboot, but after Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer received such poor critical and fan reaction, making a third Fantastic Four movie probably won't give Fox the Iron Man-esque success they're looking for. So rather than hand the Fantastic Four property back to Marvel, who have their own movie studio arm, Fox has to keep developing another Fantastic Four movie. Rebooting this may be all Fox can do to save their stake in the franchise.
