According to Home Media Magazine, Twilight is the top-selling disc of the year so far. As of March 27th, it had reportedly sold 5.4 million copies, a number confirmed by Summit's Home Entertainment president, Steve Nickerson. (Twilight has overtaken Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa, which previously held the 2009 record with an estimated 5.3 million in DVD sales.)
This news is hardly a surprise -- many Twilight fans have bought multiple copies of the movie, with some holding out for the general Blu-ray release in May. Clever marketing and exclusive retailer special features has certainly added to weekly sales. With the movie yet to make its way to DVD internationally, Summit can look forward to a steady influx of cash over the next few months.
