Earlier trailers and TV spots have provided short glimpses of the confrontation between Kirk (Chris Pine) and one very large, nasty-looking critter after another on the ice planet Delta Vega. Now Paramount has officially released a longer clip of the chase. Clearly unprepared for the first monster, a "polarilla," which appears to be all muscles and claws, and teeth and fur, Kirk starts to run for his life, with no plausible escape in sight. Then out of nowhere, the polarilla is taken out by some sort of even more menacing and alien-looing lobster monster, and Kirk has to take to his heels again, only to fall down an icy cliff. This high-action sequence -- a clear homage to an iconic scene in the Empire Strikes Back -- definitely lives up to the roller-coaster-ride description that J.J. Abrams has been giving the movie.
