It is not a terminator, but it's certainly no less intimidating. The harvester's primary function is to reap a crop of human captives and take them back to Skynet.
The harvestor is also director McG's main entry in his giant robot competition with Transformers director Michael Bay. And it's definitely impressive. Standing about 60 feet tall, and towering over the landscape, the harvester shoots out powerful energy bursts to sweep away the resistance, and gathers up the survivors with its claw-like pinchers.
As you can see in this new clip, the resistance -- Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) and Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) -- are determined to take it on and take it out.
In an effort to make it feel as real as possible, McG kept the CGI to a minimum and concentrated on really blowing things up. A lot like an episode of Mythbusters but with a giant robot and even bigger explosions.
