Looks like the unstoppable killing machines of the Terminator films will be sidelined for quite some time, as their real-life counterparts -- Hollywood attorneys -- do battle a Los Angeles courtroom, with the fate of the somewhat-anticipated fourth Terminator film hanging in the balance.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Halcyon Co., the production company that currently owns the rights to T4, is mired in a lawsuit with MGM, with the studio claiming that it's entitled to "an exclusive, 30-day negotiation for distribution rights to the films in the franchise." Said negotiations were contentious and abortive, prompting the litigation.
This one could take a while. Halcyon is still hoping for a 2009 release of T4, by which time Governor Schwarzenegger could very well be Senator Schwarzenegger.
