Comic book and genre-film fans everywhere are likely to be confused by the title of writer-director Michael Morrissey's latest film, Boy Wonder — especially with a plot that sounds vaguely like the origin of Batman's protégé: A young man becomes a vigilante to seek revenge on the man responsible for murdering his mother.
Plot similarities aside, Boy Wonder is more a gritty detective story than a flick for the spandex set. Morriessey's movie follows a homicide detective's investigation into killings in Brooklyn and his eventual involvement in the vigilante's quest for revenge.
The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed key cast members, including Caleb Steinmeyer as the vigilante, Zulay Henao as the detective, James Russo as a hitman, and Bill Sage and Tracy Middendorf as the young man's parents.
Boy Wonder is being produced by Under Construction for DIY Network. Shooting begins June 15.
