  • Watchmen Director's Cut Will (Still) Arrive Theaters This July

WatchmenBack before its March 6 opening, Watchmen was poised to be a sure-fire hit and the next big thing. Tales of the Black Freighter, an animated version of the pirate comics within the original, was set for release weeks after the opening. A Director's Cut version was also promised a theatrical release.

Then the movie opened, and for those who have been living underground, Watchmen didn't do as well as hoped. The lack of mega-blockbuster success hasn't stopped the Director's Cut from reaching theaters, though. At least, not for one weekend.

Collider reports that director Zack Snyder has announced that for one weekend, "the weekend before Comic-Con in Los Angeles, Dallas, Minneapolis, and New York," to be exact, the Watchmen Director's Cut will play. It's not exactly a worldwide release, but it will have its own poster!
