For fans who felt Ghost Rider didn't live up to expectations, Nicolas Cage has some comforting words regarding the sequel. In an interview with MTV, Cage spoke of Ghost Rider 2 becoming more of a reboot than a typical sequel.
Without talking too much about it... I would like to do a reconceive. I would like to go in a whole other direction. I think that's what they're talking about. I would make it much less of a western and more of an international story.
The international angle Cage is referring to may be a teaming of Ghost Rider with the Catholic Church; a potentially darker version of Ghost Rider not unlike the "philosophical" one Cage described previously.
