Inferno Entertainment — the production company behind Just Friends, Peaceful Warrior, and The Air I Breathe — has acquired the rights to Bad Girls, formerly in development at MTV Films under the title Lost Girls.
It's based on a MTV-Pocket Books novel by Alex McAulay, who is attached to write the screen adaptation of his book. Bad Girls, described as "a cross between Lord of the Flies and Heathers," tells the story of a rebellious teenager who is sent to reform school on a remote island and ends up embroiled with killers and drug dealers.
Other upcoming movies from Inferno include The Experiment, starring Elijah Wood, Forest Whitaker, and Adrien Brody, which began filming this month, and The Killer Elite, an action flick based on the best-selling true story by Sir Ranulph Fiennes and starring Jason Statham.
