  • The Official New New Moon Trailer, Plus Fan Reaction

This past weekend, the New Moon trailer hit the big screen before showings of Bandslam, another Summit production. The trailer also made a brief appearance on YouTube, thanks to a brazen moviegoer armed with a shaky hand-held camera. We're happy to announce that we now have a high-quality version direct from Summit.

So what do Twilight Saga fans think of this latest trailer? Robin at BellaAndEdward.com had this to say: "The good news? I definitely think it looks like New Moon is going to be better than Twilight, even though it is my least favorite book of the series. It comes across as being much richer visually. It also seems as though they really tried to stick to the books as much as they could."

But the Taylor Lautner narration didn't play as well. "I know they are pushing Taylor to the forefront so much because he is a big part of New Moon," says Kim at cullenboysanonymous.com, "but I would have rather just had a traditional trailer. Plus to be honest, New Moon to me is all about Edward. Why Edward left Bella, what was he thinking, what did he do while he was gone, etc." Michelle at BellaAndEdward.com also wasn't a fan of the interview approach: "As for the narration, I thought it distracted from the feel of the trailer. I can't even consider it a real 'trailer' because it has those little interview snippets with Taylor every 10 seconds."

In total, we posed five questions to some of our favorite Twilight fansites, including "What 'scene' were you happiest to see?" and "Was there anything that made you leery about the adaptation?" How did they respond? See The Latest New Moon Trailer: What the Fansites Really Think.

since it seems like there's a lot of dissapointed fans with the new 'new moon trailer...maybe a super duper Twilight freak fan should direct the movie.

I think the only reason to include narration from Taylor is that Jacob was almost non-existent in the Twilight movie. People who don't read the books but will see the movies (yes, they do exist) might get confused as to why Jacob (who has maybe 5 minutes of screen time in the first movie) is suddenly so important to Bella.

I thought the narration was unnecessary. Sure, New Moon is all about JACOB BLACK, I think we got that already. But what I really wanted to see was a real movie trailer, instead of what looked to be a "behind-the-scenes-interview-" and to be honest my favorite parts were the little clips at the end, especially that special glimpse of Dakote Fanning as Jane. However, I am still very anxious about how this movie will turn out. Because, Frankly, that scene where Jacob is climbing up the tree to get into Bella's window looked just plain fake. I'm sorry if i'm offending any Twilight fans, because I am a an obsessive Twilight fan myself. But let's be real guys. The special affects? Yeah, it seems to me that they are not very impressive. You can supply us with better CG Summit, I know you can! Also, I really hope Kristen shows some emotion. In Twilight she was just plain dead. And Rob- well i'm glad he actually looks like a vampire this time; the pale skin and visibly Topaz eyes looked awesome. And about the first trailer, PLEASE fix that paper cut scene. God I was so embarassed when I saw that because I am a Twilight freak and when Bella cut her finger, it looked as though she had done it intentionally, so fix this Chris Weitz or I will have your head on a platter! We all know what a success Twilight was, but let's face it, it was only successful due to Twilight fans like me, and the movie really wasn't all that great- it happened to be a flop in the eyes of the rest of my family members, and so I have HIGH expectation for New Moon.

I totally agree with you! Twilight was not that good compared to the book. I am also a Twilight freak and I am hoping that they do a better job with New Moon. I was disappointed with the trailer and was also hoping to see a real trailer. I too thought it looked more like a behind-the-scenes interview but so far it does look like it surpassed Twilight. I am very excited to see it!

I THOUGHT THE TRAILER WAS FANTASTIC!!! THE NARRATION WAS UNIQUE AND FUN. JACOB IS A HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PART OF NEW MOON AND LADIES...THE FACT IS - EDWARD DID LEAVE. SORRY. SO, FRANKLY THE JACOB "FOREFRONT" IS APPROPRIATE AND WELL DESERVED. I MEAN LOOK AT THE KID! HE WORKED HIS BOTTOM TO MAKE HIS CHARACTER LOOK AS REAL AS POSSIBLE FOR THE FANS. THE "BLINK OF AN EYE" CLIPS WERE LIKE A TREAT! IT LEFT ME HUNGRY FOR MORE! WHICH IS A GREAT REACTION! WE ARE HUNGRY AND CAN'T WAIT!!!! WOOOHOOOO! P.S. DON'T WORRY...EDWARD COMES BACK.
