  • The Smurfs Movie Release Pushed Back

Smurfs MovieSony Pictures has changed the release date of the big-screen adventures of The Smurfs from December 17, 2010, to July 29, 2011, a weekend with much less competition. The original opening weekend would have pitted the little blue guys against Yogi Bear, Tron Legacy, and another Sony film, Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet.

The Smurfs will be directed by Raja Gosnell (Scoobie Doo), with Donald McAlpine (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) acting as director of photography. There is little else known about this project, other than the fact that Sony has announced it will be released in 2-D and 3-D formats. It is still unclear whether The Smurfs will be completely CG-animated or a mixture of live-action and CG animation.

Next Showing: The Smurfs is scheduled to open July 29, 2011

A person reporting on movies can't even spell the titles? Especially something so well known as "Scooby-Doo"! (not Scoobie)
