After directing his next film, The Social Network, Academy Award-nominated director David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) will reunite with screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker for the first time since the two paired on Seven in 1995. According to THR, Fincher is attached to direct a remake of the 1975 movie The Reincarnation of Peter Proud, which Walker will adapt from the book of the same name by Max Ehrlich.
The original film script, also written by Ehrlich, told the story of Peter Proud, a college professor who started investigating his dreams when he came to the realization that they were actually images from his own past life experiences. Part of the popular supernatural thriller movie trend of the mid-70s, Peter Proud was criticized for a subplot involving incest. Fincher and Walker are expected to stay true to the novel, but update it for a modern audience.
