At a brief Q&A a few weeks ago, the producers of the upcoming vampire flick 30 Days of Night revealed that they were so impressed with Ben Foster's scene-stealing performance that they added additional scenes to give him more screen time. Playing a crazed stranger who collaborates with the gang of vampires when they attack an isolated Alaska town, Foster was in many ways scarier than the majority of his bloodsucking counterparts.
SPOILER WARNING
Though Foster's character appears to die in the film (and is definitely killed off in the graphic novel upon which it is based), there's a significant likelihood he'll return for a sequel. "We love Ben and we love (Ben's character) The Stranger," 30 Days of Night screenwriter Brian Nelson teased during an exclusive interview today with ReelzChannel.com. "I'll just tantalizingly say it is possible you might see more of The Stranger in the future."
It's welcome news. Such a return would be contingent on Foster's cooperation, of course, and Nelson admitted that he hadn't yet discussed it with the actor. He also declined to state whether The Stranger would return in human or vampire form.
Look for our full interview with Nelson on Wednesday.
