At today's junket for Love in the Time of Cholera, director Mike Newell revealed some details about the upcoming Prince of Persia movie exclusively to ReelzChannel.com.
As we reported last week, Disney approached Newell to direct a live action silver screen version of the popular videogame Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Well, it seems as though Newell has already made up his mind.
From the way he was talking, Newell made it clear that he plans to make this movie. The only thing that is holding up progress is indeed the writers' strike that has ground Hollywood to a hault. But once the strike situation is resolved, be looking for Prince of Persia to get underway--and with Newell at the helm.
For the uninitiated, the video game employs a device called 'the dagger of time', which allows users to basically turn back time for a do over. As we all know, though, mucking with the past too much creates problems. When asked if and how the 'dagger of time' would figure into the movie, Newell affirmed that it will be the main focus. 'It's all about the dagger of time,' he told us.
