Sacha Baron Cohen, the brilliant/crazy Brit behind Borat, is up for the part of Abbie Hoffman in The Trial of the Chicago Seven. The biopic about the Vietnam protesters arrested at the 1968 Democratic Convention, which was scripted by Aaron Sorkin, will be directed by Steven Spielberg.
It's easy to forget Cohen has to get into serious character for any of Cohen's comedic bits when you're laughing so hard. But the truth is he's an amazingly talented man, so we think he'll be able to nail Abbie Hoffman--even if he isn't going for laughs. We just hope he isn't upstaged by his man bits, like he is in that tight jumpsuit in Sweeney Todd.
