Detective Axel Foley is back. Variety reports that funnyman Eddie Murphy is attached to reprise his role as the fast-talking Detroit cop who brings his act to posh L.A. in a fourth chapter of Beverly Hills Cop. The first three Beverly Hills Cop flicks scorched the box office to the tune of $713 million worldwide, spawning a number of imitators that featured street-wise, smart-alecky urban cops -- like Chris Tucker in the Rush Hour flicks. Perhaps not coincidentally, Rush Hour director Brett Ratner is currently in negotiations to direct Beverly Hills Cop 4.
The only question that remains is whether Judge Reinhold will return to reprise his role as Foley's white-bread sidekick, Detective Billy Rosewood. Reinhold was last seen in TV's short-lived Mock Trial with J. Reinhold.
