Only last week, it appeared as if a sequel to the wildly hilarious 2004 comedy Anchorman would be forthcoming. Now, however, Will Ferrell, who played chauvinist journalist Ron Burgundy in the original, has cast some doubt on that possibility.
In a recent interview, Ferrell said:
I thought we were. I kept saying that. I was told we were, and now I've heard it's too hard to get everyone together. So, hopefully (director) Adam McKay is going to be able to talk to all the guys individually and see if there's a time and place that were can figure out how to do it.
When asked if he thought a sequel to Anchorman could live up to the original, Ferrell said:
Oh, we don't. It's just that it would be really fun to do. It could be terrible. But, if they're going to pay us to do it, why not?
I agree that sequels are hard. I think we would use that as a challenge, to try to make it the craziest sequel you've ever seen, with a live by the sword, die by the sword kind of feel.
Ferrell's latest release, Land of the Lost, debuts today nationwide. Ferrell plays Dr. Marshall, a disgraced scientist who, along with his assistant, Holly (played by Anna Friel), and Will, a backwoods survivalist (East Bound and Down's Danny McBride), tumbles through a space-time vortex and ends up in a mysterious place.

Ron Burgundy to return to theaters? Will Ferrell told an Australian radio show that he's working on it:
We're trying to figure out when and how we should do that. In fact, I think next week we're going meet with all the guys and see if we can pull this off because now, especially with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd in different places in their careers, it gets a lot harder to get us all together.
News of the sequel arrived last year, with reports stating Ferrell and director Adam McKay were planning to set the next installment a decade later in the '80s. The sequel won't happen overnight, especially with salaries becoming an issue for the popular actors in the Burgundy news team. "Believe me, I'm not taking a pay-cut. No way!" joked Ferrell.

If you're one of the few people left that hasn't already been sent the quickly-infamous Will Ferrell video by a friend who's just a bit more plugged-in than yourself, here's the deal:
A new web site just launched called funnyordie.com. Basically, it's a web site dedicated to comedy videos. Their flagship video, Landlord, is an amusing two-minute short starring Will Ferrell, director Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights) and a precocious foul-mouthed, hard-drinking toddler named Pearl. As Ferrell's mean-spirited landlord, Pearl berates the deadbeat tenant with such classic lines as "I want my money b***h!"
The video has already been a tremendous success, capitalizing on another Ferrell hit on the big screen, Blades of Glory. The story has been linked around the net and also picked up by YouTube.
There isn't a lot of news yet as to the origins of the video, although it doesn't look like it took a ton of production time. Funnyordie.com is purportedly a partnership between Ferrell's production company and venture capital firm Sequoia Capital.
