Countdown to Looking Glass

This movie when it first came out I remember so well, was so fricken scary! They used real time events back in the day. They had captions coming across the screen stating "this is not a real event, this is only an actment" taking lessons learned from the 1940s play on the radio Orlson Wells "War Of Worlds". This movie has sense been re-edited to a lessor event and not as intense as the first release. Can anyone tell me, how can you find the original (if known) or find a DVD-Blueray is acceptable. Does anyone know why this movie is so tight lip? No one hardly knows about it; I think the Government has something to do with the original movie being silenced, thanks.
