Not to be outdone by their Yankee counterparts, the UK film industry is poised to jump on the remake bandwagon. Variety reports that the BBC is partnering with Pathe Films for a live-action remake of The Jungle Book, based on Rudyard Kipling's classic collection of stories chronicling the adventures of the "man cub" Mowgli and the array of talking animals who help raise the abandoned boy.
The Jungle Book has been adapted a number of times for the big screen, both in live-action and animated forms. For the BBC version, UK director John Downer plans to blend CGI with conventional footage to give his talking animals a more realistic look. No release date has been set.
