It's no secret that Hollywood has fallen in love with remakes over the past few years, especially in regards to the horror flicks. Classics like The Omen, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hitcher and The Hills Have Eyes are just a few of the titles recently receiving the remake treatment, with updates of Halloween and Hellraiser currently being readied for release. (And don't forget that The Ring and The Grudge were actually remakes of Japanese horror flicks.) Apparently, there are only so many creative ways to kill people on celluloid.
Add Wes Craven's Last House on the Left to the remake list. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Greek director Dennis Iliadis has signed on to direct an update of Craven's seminal 1972 film, about a gang of murderous thugs who inadvertently hole up at a house owned by the parents of one of their victims.
Ironically, the announcement comes at a time when Craven himself is looking to explore other genres. In a recent interview with ReelzChannel.com, the "Horror King" expressed his sincere desire to make a romantic comedy.
